Looks like the Commanders hired Peters over Cunningham, but Cunningham is now being interviewed by Chargers so we may still lose him
I don't want to lose him. But he has done a great job and I wish him all the success in the world.
One of the marks of a high functioning organization is people look to the staff of that organization for significant and senior positions within their organization. Hopefully this is the first of several Bear front office people leaving for solid promotions.

I'm actually relieved. If IC had gone to Washington (#2 pick) that could have presented problems. I would imagine he has a pretty good idea what's rolling around in Poles's head with regard to the #1 pick.
I do hope he still gets hired somewhere though for those 2 extra 3rd round picks.

And it speaks well of your organization when one of your top franchise management guys are coveted by others... assuming a team does hire him as a GM. And I'm like you in that I'd love to get those 2 extra 3rd round picks... that would be a big deal. There are quality players still available in the third rnd. Two extra picks? I'd be ecstatic.

I dunno.... If he is as good as they say he is, he is worth more than the two picks. Like maybe the guy that helps to make sure a pick is a good pick vs a dud. Picks don't matter if you don't hit. Gimme fewer and better picks than more and picks that don't amount to anything. And I am saying this without really knowing what his contributions are. Maybe he has nothing to do with picks, but if he is in any way integral to making the organization win, I'd rather have that.

Yeah, I agree with that but you can't keep a young ascending guy from realizing his dream to be one of the 32 GM's in the NFL. It is the opportunity of a lifetime for a guy like Cunningham. So he's going to take the gig if it is ever offered. But I agree with you 100% that it would be a significant loss to the Bears and the 2 draft picks will not compensate for the loss... but, I would be happy we got the two picks rather than nothing. Those third round picks would be mighty nice this draft... one of them could land one of the better offensive centers in this years draft. LOL, better than a sharp stick in the eye.

oh no. Not suggesting we hold him or anyone else back. All I am saying is that sometimes the goose that lays the golden egg is more valuable than the golden egg itself (or in this case, two golden eggs)

So basically its two golden eggs vs two golden balls
