Warren has stated categorically in his press conference this year that the goal is to win the Super Bowl. He didn’t say “get better every year” or “get in the playoffs a couple times”. You are satisfied with those goals, but Warren and I are not. The second notable thing Warren said is that he is “impatient.” Good, because I am also impatient. I will be age 78 this year, and would like Bears to win a Super Bowl before I’m dead. You can sit back and wait 10-15 years. I can’t. As I told motm, that affects one’s time horizon and sense of urgency. Warren isn’t going to wait forever. I can’t predict his EXACT year, but that if the Bears are never Super Bowl ready during Williams rookie contract, his patience will run out, and maybe sooner if we aren’t winning the North.
George Steinbrenner was impatient...Yankees didn't win until he was suspended by the MLB and couldn't be involved with the team.
You didn’t really answer my question. We both expect the Bears to win this year. I already predicted 10-12 wins. But for various reasons (rookie QB, Lions, etc.), you don’t hold Poles accountable if we are 9-8 and finish behind Lions, Packers, or both. So my question stands. When should he be accountable? 2027,28,29,30,never? That was my question.
9 games would be a 2 game improvement. Regardless...the real question is WHY did they win 9 games. You try to make everything black and white, and very few things really are.
If Williams goes on IR for half the season, 9 wins would be an achievement. See, I can make allowances when justified. Otherwise, it is a very minimal improvement, considering WHY we won only 7 games last year. The 7 is not black and white either, is it?

The problem is Williams is a wild car. He could not be a very good NFL QB and we emptied the cupboard. Even if he ends up being Tom Brady 2.0 he could still not be very good this year as he gets his feet wet. No telling until the season plays out

Exactly my thought too. My gut feeling is that he is going to be pretty darned good this year, but I am not going to be surprised if he struggles at times. Tonight, just for the heck of it I watched a lot of his college video - just for fun. Holy cow he is so gifted. And watching the USC video looks like he is going to come into a better team than he is leaving. USC really wasn't very good. He did not have much around him. I'm kind of excited to see what he can do with a better team around him now.
This is really a good time this year to just relax and enjoy watching the young team come together. This is, by far, the best support I have seen the Bears put around a QB here. It is not perfect but it is mighty good.

That is why I give him two years if necessary to show us what he’s got. But even as a rookie, if he can’t produce with the best receiver group in the NFL — Odunze, Moore, Allen, Kmet — then Poles drafted the wrong QB.

Good point there, but We don't have Odunze and might not even stay with the #9 pick

If the offensive line is truly fixed then we will see some fun and exciting football - even this year. At least I think we will.
