Yet another option would be to bring Roman in. Sounds like he's convinced the Bears have not brought out the talent that Fields has. I would prefer an OC with experience over rolling the dice again on a rookie OC. Roman is one option.
LINK Possible Luke Getsy Replacement Sounds Like A Big Justin Fields Fan “... I THINK JUSTIN FIELDS HAS A TON OF POTENTIAL. I REALLY DO. I THINK HIS FLASHES THIS YEAR…I THINK THEIR TEAM’S ON THE RISE. I THINK IT’D BE REALLY HARD TO MOVE ON FROM HIM AT THIS POINT. I THINK HE’S SHOWN A LOT OF PROMISE. SO I MEAN IF YOU JUST ABSOLUTELY FEEL LIKE, YOU KNOW, THE QUARTERBACK IN COLLEGE IS THE GUY, THEN MAYBE YOU MAKE THE MOVE. BUT I DON’T KNOW MAN, THEY’RE BUILDING SOMETHING AND I THINK THAT KID’S GOT A CHANCE TO BE PRETTY SPECIAL.”

I think Greg is right...but what the heck does he know?!

How would you feel about him becoming our OC?
I'd be ok with it. I think he'd make the most of Justins skills...I would worry about it being too run oriented though. I'd have to go back and look at teams he OC'ed with good receivers and see how they did. I've mentioned it a couple of times...but Adam Rank mentioned on his podcast that the Bears were contacting or sniffing around an established OC "who's never been an HC"...those dots to me lead to Roman.

I wonder if he is a guy who learns from previous gigs and refines how he would run his next offense... of course there is no way for us to know if he can do that, or even if he wants to do it. But you'd think a good coach would always be honing and sharpening their offense. In other words I'd hope we'd get a better version of any veteran coach they'd bring in here.

I'd like a guy that has developed a passing offense and modified offenses around the skill set of his QB successfully. Unfortunately, those guys don't usually fail and don't have to look for other OC jobs. Will have to probably a creative offensive mind that has not been an OC. In other words, yet another roll of the die

Yeah, you are probably right. Hopefully if the Bears do go that route they get it right this time around. One can hope anyway, right? :-)
Do you think it worth at least considering a guy who has been successful play calling experience in college? Or is the NFL game so different that it would not be a good idea?

I can't know for sure, but my suspicion is that it would take at least a year, probably two to ramp. But there is always the exceptional guy. But we have a way of avoiding those types.
