LOL, I tell my kids "this old age is a real thing" :-)
Bart Starr was incredible. There is an old book, a diary really, that was written by Jerry Kramer about the 1967 season with all those great Packers players... I've read that book multiple times over the years. It was a different game back then, but I loved it. The book's name is "Instant Replay" and is worth a read if you have never read it (you don't have to be a Packers fan to love it).
Yeah, their running game was like the Eagles tush push. Unstoppable. They could have published their whole playbook, and it wouldn’t make much difference! I knew Bears would lose to those Lombardi teams, but enjoyed watching Butkus and Sayers anyway.
+1 on watching the games just to see Butkus or Sayers. Those Bears teams after the '63 Championship year were really bad. They were bad until the end of the 70's. Even with great Hall of Fame players, the teams were bad teams. For that matter, even the early years with Walter Payton the team sucked. When you go back and read over the names of those QBs during that stretch, they were so bad. Bill Wade was a solid QB though. Interesting that our 1985 Super Bowl and 1963 NFL Championship teams had solid QBs.

It’s all those years 1963 to 1985 that are forgettable — along with the names of the QBs.

Well, the QBs since 1985 haven't been that memorable either.

True, and that is why old geezers like JABF and me are wary of Bears hitting gold in the QB sweepstakes. At least we know what we’ve got with Fields, and he’s pretty damn good compared to his predecessors in the job.

Do you know how many QB Bears drafted in round 1 in the Super Bowl era? 6 6 in over 55 years. That is the SOLE reason we cannot make it right. 6 in 55+.
Oh, btw, do you know how many of those were 1st overall picks? None. As in zero.
I rest my case, good day, good evening and good night.
I have a bad feeling about this game. I hope I'm wrong.
Me too
Every time I start to feel optimistic that they're turning a corner, they crap the bed and remind you why you're a fool to believe in them. Opening Days 2019 & 2023 come to mind.

Resist PTSD. Bears have great chance to finally beat them — best chance in 5 years.

Yeah, I have been trying really really hard to remain positive. But gotta be honest here and admit I have that sick feeling it's (yet again) going be a clunker game. It's hard to believe when the team has failed so many times.

I would suggest you are making the case to stick with fields and not attempt to enter the quarterback sweepstakes. Lots of first overall picks don't pan out.
