The Good
First defensive series starts nicely with Nick K getting in on stopping Detroit's attempts at establishing a run game, but this secondary is getting eaten alive. But wait...HJQ with solid coverage to bring up third down. Here comes 3rd Down MVP Aikem Hicks crushing Stafford despite holding calls everywhere.
Love that kid.
Then after a slow start, here goes Howard on a long run. Love that kid too!
Barkley keeping his wits and while they don't find the endzone...Barth puts the Bears on the board first. Looks like we could have a decent game afterall. Time to refresh my beverage.
The Bad
And out my kitchen window, penetrating all the lovely white snow, is a steady stream of black smoke.
Trying to pry my head down to see where the smoke is coming from and boom...power goes out. I call after my Better Half and we get on shoes and coats to head downstairs, just to be safe. All my neighbors are gathering around the alley next to our building. There it was...the cause of all our major inconvenience.
A Dumpster Fire.
I wanted the laugh so much at having my Bears Game completely shut down by a dumpster fire, but I did not think my neighbors or my wife would appreciate the metaphor. Chicago FD show up to take care of business, but it was still going to be “a little while” before power was going to be restored to our building. We do lunch some place close to get out of the cold and snow. By the time, we get back it's 2:30 and the power is back on, but cable/internet service still down due to fire damage.
The Ugly
So I missed my first Bear Game in five years. Sure maybe another loss to the Lions in the most losing season Bear Nation has seen in many moons now was a good game to miss. But we only get sixteen of these a year...especially because we can't win enough games to get more January Football. It was kind of a bummer. Maybe I could catch a replay this week, but not going to be much fun after I caught the final score this morning and know it's just another loss anyhow.
Sorry if this is not what you all were expecting and kind of off-topic, but I promised myself I would do it every week...so here we are.
(But at least you guys will find the dumpster fire kind of funny)
