As I was watching the All 22 of last game I thought I'd take notes on my thoughts, and maybe I'll do this for the rest of the games this season. Here they are:
- Clear who Fields trusts, will throw “nfl open” to Kmet and Moore
- TE Screen on the the second drive was beautifully executed and a great play call…wish we would have seen more of that that took advantage of the open middle of the field.
- Fields did a really good job on the WR screen they sniffed out on I think the 3rd drive of the game, he scrambled and then threw the ball away. Smart decision making overall.
- Patrick is a liability. Saw a bunch of times where it looked like he didn’t handle his blocking assignment and messed up others on their assignments.
- Sometimes too quick to get the ball out causing missed opportunities on guys getting open later…that could have occurred because defenders moved to the ball though.
- The fact there wasn’t a helmet to helmet penalty called on the Vikings on the one QB dive is astounding. We’ve harped on it before, but its amazing how little protection the refs give Fields week in and week out in comparison to other QB’s in the league. I know Flus doesn’t want to draw a penalty on himself and hurt the team…but I’d be losing my mind.
- Vikings D gives so many different looks…Harrison Smith is awesome…smart player who disguises coverage really well. At one point lined up wide on LOS faking blitz and sprints to deep middle coverage taking away Mooney on a route.
- DJ Moore…good at football. Great job reading and setting up blocks on some of those WR screens.
- 3 WR screens in a row…dumb, and second one to Taylor(punt returner)...play calling was largely garbage in my opinion
- Bears D was POPPING!
- Run formations were pretty obvious
- Nice job pumping on the one WR screen to not get it batted down by outside blitzer
- Patrick snaps on target…but some were so SLOW getting back
- I love Andrew Billings! LOL dude busts his ass!
- Dexter flashes had me not skipping through defense at times he was on the field
- Roschon did a nice job making something out of nothing at times…great job reading blocks and defenders
- Had Mooney on a fade for what could have been a TD, but looked like he was last in progression
- Man this Vikings D creates a lot of confusion pre-snap. Fields did a nice job reading through the BS overall
- I think the bye is coming at the right time for Wright…he seemed a little tired at times in this game, rookie wall maybe
- Snaps take WAY too long to get back to fields…really messes up timing and rhythm
- Kmet has to make the block on the LB that forces Fields second fumble…he makes that block and that run goes for a lot more yards.
- Great job on scramble drill on first play after second fumble…improvises and completes to moore
- Think he’s lost trust in mooney, the two plays he throws the ball away Mooney looks to be open over the middle. First one the pocket is messy and he has to move off his spot and adjust his eyes, so he may not have seen him…second one he moves off of mooney really quickly too scott who also appears to get open, but by then pressure is in his face.
- Last throw to Moore…absolute dart! Just ripped it!
