Tyson Bagent Press Conf. (really enjoyable to watch)

23 years old, folks. He talks like he's halfway through his second contract.

At 5:24, someone asks if he could have made the hail mary that Peterman attempted at the end of the half. Bagent says "Yeah, I got a cannon" and the press break up in laughter.

But he believes it.  X and a lot of garbage rags talk about his lack of arm strength but if you look back at the combine numbers on throwing velocity, you'll see that Bagent walked away among the Top 10 in throwing velocity.

Granted, he's not on Josh Allen's level, but very few are.  Would be nice if we had numbers on JF1, but COVID...

So when Bagent says he's got a cannon... he's decent, but he's not joking.  He believes it.

So true!
I would like to see Bagent go out there next week and do a bit more. Can he learn and APPLY this new knowledge to his craft? That is what I want to see, progression. I could care less if he can run 50yards a game or hit a stadium roof. I want to see progression!!

And hey! if anythnig he could be a GREAT backup.

I was going to mention that. There are a couple of things about Bagent that may not be totally obvious.  He has decent DNA.  His dad owns a long list of consecutive world arm wrestling titles.  I know there is a fair amount of WWE in that sport.  But if you look up his dad (Travis Bagent) on YouTube, just watch the guns that dude has for arms.  I've watched videos of Bagent talking with his dad and it looks to me that Bagent basically has the same skeletal frame as his father.  Before the combine, Bagent was working with a throwing and strength coach.  I am sure the Bears will be continuing that work. 

Everybody likes to dump on D2 college athletes, but you need to watch his college highlight video.  I have it below.  Look at some of the distances of his passes.  Now he does not throw a rocket (30 - 40 yards in the air and on a rope).  But he throws a damned accurate 30+ yard pass with very nice touch.

But as I have said before, we need to see how he develops because all he really has at this point is tantalizing potential.  We need to see him pay his dues, put in the work, etc.

I know Jenkins does this too, but I feel like Daniels just gives a better understanding of what the def is trying to do on plays also. Something you notice is 1) Mooney and Scott F up a couple times. Scott np, Mooney has been around to long to have this keep happening. 2) It's pretty obvious that what Oak was trying to do was make a young qb take nothing but short dump offs and not screw up or get frustrated and make a mistake. He didn't, on either part, he was more than happy to take what they gave him. 

SD won't be so forgiving. They'll disguise more and they'll no doubt test his arm by taking away the dump offs and they'll not just use pressure but try and hide their coverages more. 

He was definitely getting through more than just his 1st and 2nd progression though, and he was doing it quickly b/c he was able to diagnose the coverage and know if the play was already beat before the snap. Kid knows what is going on and how to counter the defenses counter; at least when they aren't hiding it.
