Sirles and Boone are former offensive linemen with 16 NFL seasons experience between them (Boone at LT and Sirles at G and C). Their take on it is interesting. It sure sounds like the offense coaching and the scheme is pretty bad. The OL guys are just not [ever] going to block guys effectively with the scheme they are using. At least that's my take on listening to them break down these plays. It looks like the scheme is lacking basic blocking fundamentals - or the players are not understanding what they MUST do in these situations (basic NFL-101 stuff that is lacking here). And they point out that Fields simply isn't understanding very basic QB concepts for adjusting to what the defenses are doing. Again, basic NFL-101 stuff.
I definitely understand that it's a killer to a team that cycles through coaches like the Bears are doing (constant turnover with coaches). But what are the options if the coaches can't coach? I mean, what do you DO in that case? I think you have to move on. This isn't a talent issue (although we obviously need player upgrades on offense)... this is coaching. Something is rotten here.
