I think the repairs needed for the team are much greater than anyone says. We need to see legitimate professional sport (preferably football) execs running the team without any owner interference. Without that nothing good will last more than a couple of seasons. Maybe we have that in Warren, I'm not sure but am willing to give hm a chance. After that, the execs running the team need to be given a free hand and a decent budget for what they do. And they need to be allowed to do their jobs. That means the team might suck for a couple of years. Lord, I hope not but that may be the price.
If you look at the history of the league, there have only been a handful of teams that truly became dynasties. If you look at them, they have had intelligent and well-heeled owners totally committed to winning. I'm not sure we have that (actually, I'm pretty sure we don't, but I'm trying to be nice). And they allowed some really long term success. Look at the relationship between Robert Kraft and Bill Belichick.
I don't want Belichick. IMO, he is near burn out. We need to see if Warren is up to the job. If he is, we need to let him do it. And if the McCaskey family (and that includes Ted Philips and any of his buds) cannot keep their fingers out of the pie and keep their stupid ideas to themselves, then as fans we need to walk away. I personally believe that at one level or another, the team is being run by a consensus of some number of the McCaskey family. And that the primary motivator for many/most of this group is their income and the team's performance is only important as a factor in keeping the income coming in.
That is "it" in a nutshell. That is the only real and meaningful change in the franchise since George Halas left. If Warren is good, then there is hope for this franchise. And I am going to keep that hope - trusting in his moves after this season, and just watching if they are successful or not. Results are all that matter. Let's give the guy a chance to show that he can get it done here in Chicago.

All we do is giving chances, pretty fed up with all the chances flying around

And we need to remember thar the old man basically forced Jim Finks out. Finks, the guy who built the only modern championship team in our history, left because Halas went around him and hired Ditka as the HC.

Yeah, that is a great point. Halas hurt the franchise hiring Ditka. Ditka inherited immense talent from the Finks era - and it is a travesty that he couldn't do better than the one SB that owed quite a bit to Buddy Ryan. Not Ditka. And when Ditka went to New Orleans he broke that franchise with mismanagement.
