I know it's Lambert, but he makes a few good points here. Would you off-load Fields for a 4th round pick? Could Fields still turn it around and be our true franchise QB of the future? What do you think?

It's not just Lambert, over the past few days (including the days before the Broncos game) I've read several articles discussing the idea of trading Fields to the Falcons, Cardinals or even Commanders.
I'll say this, it's kinda sad that we already have to talk about giving up on what was supposed to be the new face of the franchise, but if we do end up cleaning house and have multiple first round picks, this might be worth it as next year's QB class is quite good and deep.

I will always believe that Justin Fields could have been a very solid franchise QB if he had gone to a team other than Chicago. I can't prove that, obviously. But I will always believe it. If the Bears EVER hope to climb out of this hole (worst in the NFL hole) then they need to do the riczaj01 plan and build a solid offense for the next victim kid that comes here to die. LOL, someone will chime in here with how a QB should be able to overcome the "Chicago QB Treatment" and flourish, because "Team X" was able to do it (just fill in the blank there with some lucky team that did it). Meatballs believe exceptions are the rule in life. It ain't so.
If the Bears draft a QB in this next draft, they'd better go all-in with their Cap $$$ and also their top draft picks to do a legit upgrade of the OL - and WR unit too. Keep D.J. but DJ alone is not enough. And don't get me started about Claypool and Mooney...

No, at this point, and with a contract thru next year I would not give him up for 4th rd pick, 2nd maybe
If they let him walk, isn’t there some sort of compensation if he’s signed elsewhere? If so, any idea what’d it would be? Or am I totally off base? It happens! 🤣🤣🤣

If Fields plays better the next 13 games, that would raise his trade value. I think he will more likely play better than worse from this point forward. Also, once some of the QB-needy teams know their 2024 draft position, they will be more desperate to do something like the Raiders in 2023. So I don’t think it makes sense to trade Fields yet.

+1 I think that's a good point. Even if you have to wait until the end of the season to trade him, it may very well be worth it if his stock rises as the season goes on. He can't get any worse but he certainly could play better. I'm not talking great here, but just better play... enough to get a team to believe he's worth something.

Trey Lance was traded for 4th round pick. Unless he really “craps the bed” (as you say) these last 13 games, you’d hope he’d be worth at least a second or third. You might also trade him for a WR or other established player. I do NOT trust Poles with second and third round draft picks. He pisses them away nearly every time.
