This team needs so much talent infused into it, its going to take 2 drafts and 2 fa's, and probably another yr for the qb(assuming a rookie) to get up and running. There just isn't any talent outside a handful of guys, if the entire team was cut tomorrow, most of this team wouldn't even be looked at by a playoff quality team, a few would; the rest would be lucky to be starters for non playoff teams.
weak/bad/trash outside a few players.
That’s all true, but let’s not forget that butkus has reminded us that Poles added some more talent to this team in 2023 with his $100M and #1 pick than it had at the end of 2022. End of story. Period. Nothing more need be said about the talent level. Poles did his job. So shut up about the talent.
Well they did, it's just not much of an improvement then what they had previously. They had absolute garbage last year, this year they added a couple good pieces but mostly fresh trash

+1 The team doesn't have a single All Pro. Last year we didn't even have an alternate Pro Bowl guy. I forget where I read it, but recently I read that our DL (as just one example of our dearth of talent) our DL guys wouldn't even make the 53-man roster on some teams. LOL, not even make the roster... they'd be cut in camp. I could see the team improving over the next few years, but how far of an improvement? You don't fix all that needs fixing here in 2 years. Not happening. Can it be improved? Yes. Can it be fixed? No. Not to the level it needs to be fixed.
The franchise has rotted over the years and it's about as bad as you can get. Think "Lions bad" from the years when they were even worse than us.
They key to a better future is Warren. The McCaskeys are here for the time being so them selling the Bears isn't going to happen anytime soon. So, for me, the only hope I have is that Warren has the authority and the skills to rebuild the franchise at his level, down. It will be interesting to see if he CAN do this. It's probably 50/50. But there is some hope.
Not including anyone on a rookie deal, Moore, Edmunds and Edwards JJohnson and then it's all replacement lvl talent.
Could say the same about our OL and WRs other then Moore as the DL, maybe Jones and wright turn into something, maybe if Jenkins didn't spend time on IR every year the OL looks different and someone else wants a few guys from it. But this team is just of, how do the kids put it, meh.

This is 100% accurate assessment of this roster. Poles has TWO YEARS of demonstrated INCOMPETENCE. If Warren keeps him onboard, we will see year THREE. Are we going to do same thing and expect different result?
in that case, our best hope is that Poles can get lucky again with #1 pick and Caleb Williams is a super star QB. Of course, we would still need a defense. Then draft the best DL on the board with the other first round pick. People here will want him to “trade down” for more picks, which he will probably do and piss it away on players like V. Jones, Gordon, Dexter, Stevenson,Claypool, etc., etc., etc.

Williams isn't coming to Chicago, he'll stay where he is at USC or force a trade. Dude isn't willing to play for a trash Org, and Chicago apparently was used as an example; and I don't blame him. They draft then ignore qb's constantly, as if a qb can do it all on their own from year 1.
This team lacks super star talent and we need 2 draft classes as well as good FA pickups to go from a bottom team to a playoff team that didn't back peddle its way into the playoffs.
2024 draft is very important. We need a QB and we need a WR/OT. If the WR is generational. You take him.
We also need to build the lines for both offense and defense. Instead of overpaying on LBs.

David, Butkus understands the team needs more/better talent. Two things can both be true at the same time. Yes, we need to do well drafting and FA in 2024 (and 2025 for that matter). Butkus isn't saying we are finished with the rebuild in 2023. But the coaches don't seem to have done much with the talent they already have - I think that part is true too.
1. We need better talent. 2. We need better coaches.
Most folks agree that it takes 3 years to truly evaluate a draft class. Poles is just entering his 2nd season. And some of these young/new players will hopefully ascend and be good. They sure are not "there" yet. With the failed coaching staff that we now have, it's going to be tough for any player to reach their ceiling here though... but maybe some will. My hope is that two things happen at the end of this season.
1. We add more talent. 2. We add coaches who can coach - coaches who can develop the talent given to them. We don't have this now. In fact, I worry that more harm is being done now to these players than help/development.

+1 The needs are huge, just with the two lines. Both the D and Olines need some top-tier talent added. By that I mean 1st round talent and 2nd round talent - and a top tier FA or two... I'm not talking about the deadbeats we have been getting. I am talking about top-tier guys. Difference makers. I don't see how you do that in less than 2 off-seasons. It's impossible. And that is just the lineman needs. LOL, we also need a franchise QB, two WRs (difference makers, not deadbeats like Claypool), a stud TE... and that's just on offense. It's pretty sobering to think about it.
Of course the Bears could just duct tape some crap together like they have in the past and have a mediocre 8-win team. I hope they don't do the duct tape thing again.

Yes, but that’s not how he phrases it. He says Poles job is to add more talent to the team in 2023 than he had in 2022. He accomplished that. He did his job. End of story. Period. Nothing more to see.
I said that simply adding some talent — which is virtually impossible NOT to do with a decimated roster and $100M + #1 pick in hand — does not absolve Poles from his substantial responsibility in creating this mess. Butkus hasn’t admitted this yet. Instead, his position is that Poles has provided the talent but the coaches have failed. I agree the coaches have failed, but so has Poles.
I noted on the Seahawks board last night that the Lions were 3-13-1 in 2021, which was WORSE record than the Bears. Now they are King of the North. It is sickening to think about where Poles/Eberflus has taken the Bears during the same two-year period.
If you guys are honest, you will admit that that the Lions, Jags, and Seahawks have added more talent to their rosters in 2022-23 than has Poles. They all started with crappy rosters, too, but have moved up into playoff contention, while the Bears have moved to the bottom.

It is good to hear that if anything you are consistent. You complain about the same thing over and over again. When you get proven wrong you go on as if you never even heard the statements that proved you wrong. So you do this over there as well?
Do you complain that the Seahawks should have drafted differently a couple of drafts ago as well?
I have pretty much convinced myself not to look at your posts because.......Well ask your Seahawk, Lion and Eagles friends. I am sure they will tell you straight up.

I think my predictions about the Bears record in 2023 is getting proven wrong. I predicted 7-10 wins and 27 ppg. Neither of those predictions are looking good at the moment.
On the other hand, my predictions about Poles and Jalen Carter seem on track so far this season.
I don’t approve of everything John Schneider has done in Seattle, either, but he’s way ahead of Poles since 2021.
