I don't think that's it. I think Getsy and he spent all offseason trying to install something for him to become more pocket oriented, he himself stated he needed to do so, and it's not working and he's not sure why, or he does know why and he cannot, or doesn't know how to fix it.
Heard again in post game, the O isn't doing what it's supposed to, this time it was a problem w/the silent count, and again talk of people not knowing how to line up. Also heard they struggled to get a playcall in, after a kickoff and after a commerical break. How the hell does that even happen?!?!?! What is Fields supposed to do? Is he the reason that players are confused? Is what Getsy is calling not being told in the huddle correctly by Fields? This is the same shit w/Nagy and Trubisky all over again, who's at fault? Well come to find out w/them it was both; and I'm going to go w/history and say that is likely the case again. Doesn't matter why, doesn't matter what might have been or was predestined.
This shitshow is going to continue on for the rest of the season, and at the end no less than the entire coaching staff, and Fields are going to be gone; and Poles will be firmly in the hot seat, if not fired also.
I am starting to see signs of him checking out & losing the desire to compete/win.
Hate to say it but most Bears fans have "checked out" on Fields too. He's been a massive disappointment and is a bottom-5 QB at this point. That is NOT an exaggeration either.
He just doesn't seem to have the mental gears to be a successful NFL QB. It pains me to say it but he was yet another miss.

It's the same shit again, Ric.
It's a failing coaching staff and failing QB unable to cobble together even a modicum of an NFL offense.

+1
I was browsing the Bears site and looked at the Front Office page. And guess who I found. Ted Philips as a "Special Advisor". I just about barfed on the spot. I sure hope he has no input on anything to do with the team. Not even on what kind to TP they use in the public bathrooms.
I am hoping that the decisions made at the end of the year are exclusively Warren's responsibility. I am hesitant on making any decisions on players until we have decided on the GM position and have replaced the coaching staff. I didn't watch the game yesterday as we were really busy at home. But I am watching int slowly off the VR. I am about through the 1st quarter now. As bad as it is (and it's really bad), I am seeing some bright points with some of the players. Hopefully we don't have to do the full tear down again.
Update:
I have to confess. I watched the Wales v. Australia rugby world cup qualifier yesterday. Man, that Wales side is really something. The entire center of their quad is 6'6" or taller and 250 - 275 lbs. And they are strong, mean and fast. Australia was dominating time of possession, field position, etc. But every time they got close the Wales goal line, some big Welsh dude would just smack some Aussie dude like he was a bug.
I think Fields is realizing that he can't process the field fast enough. He wants to fix it by running, but he is not a threat passing and defenses key in on his runs. He doesn't see the open receivers. There were a couple times in the game where the receiver is sitting in the zone pocket waving his hands because he's wide open, but Justin doesn't see it.
Unfortunately, mental capacity is not coachable. He can blame the coaches all he wants, but the truth remains: he's been coached by professional level coaches for 3 years and hasn't progressed at all. I read an article where the sportswriter noted that CJ Stroud came from the same college and same coaches as Justin Fields. Look at the difference. CJ has only been with professional coaches for a few months and he's already surpassed Fields.
If its me, I start Bagent. Our team has too many weapons on offense to stink this bad. All we need is a passing threat of some kind and Bagent looked accurate in preseason. If he can hit a receiver just in the 2nd level we improve, and that's actually sad. We have 2 first round picks next year, so I scrap Fields in a trade for a reliable offensive lineman and attack the draft.
Some kind of major change needs to occur to alter team culture. The QB can't read the field. That's holding us back and it's also the easiest change. Maybe Justin needs a wake up call or a QB competition to get started. I doubt the coach will do it though; its somehow off-limits to criticize Fields and that will influence coaching.

Its 100% on Fields, and Bagent not being called QB2 is also on Fields I believe. Guy is a touchy, goldvisor wearin, swagger RB

Yeah, I'm afraid its getting harder and harder to ignore his mental/processing/vision issues. Its getting harder and harder to make excuses for him too. No matter what else isn't right with his surrounding cast, he shouldn't be looking THIS BAD. Its year 3 for crying out loud.
Fields also advocated for himself last week and I commended him for that. I also said: "now he has to back it up". Well, he hasn't yet. I realize he was facing one of the NFL's best defenses on the road yesterday so didn't expect miracles, but the O still shouldn't be getting shut out well into the 3rd Q either. And a lot of that is on Justin. He was brutal to watch.
This season is virtually guaranteed to be a train wreck and total waste of time already. Fields talking about Detroit starting 1-6 last yr was whistling past the graveyard--the Lions were highly competitive last September and October and were scoring points. We are not.
My guess is Fields gets October and November and if he he still isn't backing it up, you give Bagent a few starts late in the year to see what have or don't have in him.
Dark times It's bleak out there is Bears-dom right now

This is what I've been saying. You bench Fields give Bagent the reigns. Bagent seems to process things way quicker than Fields, and then we will see if its Fields, Getsy or both. It very well could be both, but Fields is definitely not able to read defenses at this point. Not sure if he ever will to be honest.
