Nate Davis (OG) Also not going to Tampa for personal reasons. Hmmm seems like change is already in the air. I hope so anyway.
The Chicago Tribune is reporting that it is due to the death of a close family member - and may have been the reason he missed some time in summer camp and did not practice before that first game (LINK). It makes you wonder if someone was terminally ill these past few weeks. More will come out later. But for now, at lease we have some clue as to what's behind this.

As shitty as this may sound, that would bring me relief on his signing in a way. I could see that being every reason to not practice and be with them while he could.

+1 Yeah, I agree. And we fans don't know anything about the situation. If it is something like that, then you do send a message to this young team that they care about them. As important as football is, there are things in life more important than football. Again, we don't know the facts yet. I'm just spitballing.

I was thinking the exact same thing!
It now sounds like he had a real family situation with an ill loved one who just passed which is completely understandable. Condolences out to Nate and his family and he gets a pass for a poor week 1 effort given what he was dealing with.
I was left wondering though--why not just SAY THAT before? Maybe Nate asked for privacy while his family was going thru a tough time, I get that, but unfortunately a lot of negative speculation could have been avoided that way.

I would guess he wanted to keep his private life as private as he could and the team obliged.
who the hell is Bill Zimmerman, and why would anyone post something so open ended with no backup or source? Until any legitimate info is available, this is Click bait.
The Chicago Bears may be without defensive coordinator Alan Williams for another week, if he’s even still the team’s defensive coordinator at all. Head coach Matt Eberflus met with the media on Wednesday and was asked about the status of Williams, who has been away from the team for the last week with a personal matter. Eberflus was oddly coy with his answers.
“I do not have an update on Alan Williams right now,” Eberflus said when asked by CHGO’s Nicholas Moreano if the defensive coordinator would return this season. Mark Potash of the Chicago Sun-Times followed up by asking if Williams was still the defensive coordinator, and Eberflus repeated his statement. The Bigs’ Herb Howard asked if Eberflus had spoken to Williams, and once again, the head coach declined to answer.
So nothing solid and lots of wacked out spin. may be something going on, or may not, but we'll have to wait and see.
