2) How much better does he have to be to improve upon John Fox?
I could give you a whole lot more on that but I think I've already said more than enough about Fox to indicate that he's not the fit we need. By promoting Fangio and retaining most of the defensive staff and maybe some of the offensive staff it reduces the costs of making the transition since Fox's deal will have to be paid off. It's guaranteed.
Also Fangio's contract is up after the 2017 season. If he's not offered a HC position this year by us or someone else there's a good chance he'd be gone after next season anyway unless he's extended and that only happens if Fox is extended. Basically it's time to strike while the iron is hot. Fangio is more of the blue collar straight talking type I believe is a better fit and so far he's proven to be a far better developer of the young talent under him than anyone else has.
Unless I'm totally off base the Bears will not spend big on high dollar guaranteed deals for top shelf UFAs. They'll spend money to keep their own and target less expensive UFAs like they have been doing and continue to build long term through the draft. That's not they type of team Fox us used to running. In Denver he has given a ton of top shelf talent through FA to compliment those who were drafted AND he had Manning and two very good OCs back to back. He has none of that for his offense in Chicago.
Dominant defenses win championships. Vic Fangio is building one in Chicago and I don't want to lose that. Why are you so all fired sure that hanging on to the second worst HC we've ever had will be better than making a change? Fox was hired to clean up a mess and he's created a bigger one than he began with.
If we lose our second top coordinator in two years that also reflects poorly on Fox since it was his supposed rep for being able to hire and keep a top shelf staff of coaches which also led to his hire and it looks again like that may also be a myth.
Gase was given a head coaching job. How is Fox responsible for him leaving? Did you seriously expect Gase to pass up a head coaching job to stay a coordinator with us? Seriously?

I'm talking about losing our second coordinator in two years not Gase. Gase is the one who should have been HC to begin with and then we wouldn't have lost him. Now we may have a shot at keeping our DC and if we're smart enough to do what I would have liked to have seen done at the bye it would all have been over and done by now.
You know what? I'm outta here for the weekend. I could post facts 'til hell freezes over and some of you will still question the wisdom of firing another loser HC. It's pretty much the same oversimplified attitudes some have of replacing QBs with better ones even though the only time it actually worked in this century is when Cutler replaced Grossman and Orton. You all deserve what you're getting. You get mediocrity and crap because you're willing to accept it and as long as you do you're gonna keep on getting in year after year.
BOHICA to you if you like it that way but my ass is getting sore so I'll excuse myself from your crowd and go my own way now. My stick arm is getting sore.

I don't want to know any more about how you abuse your "stick" arm.

No i'm sorry i didn't watch that video earlier when i posted...i don't always have the available work area to perform such activities lol But it's good if it's true that he is wanting to be a HC.
Guess that still brings me around to his head coaching abilities. I know we can say, how much better does he have to be, but if we are truly talking about finding the right fit, is "IT" Fangio?, or is he just another one sided coach like Lovie?

Of course. He would have been able to work with Cutler for an additional year. If that's not worth giving up a HC position for, what is?
Fox ain't going anywhere so this scratching on the matchbox ain't gonna create fire... We're all getting worked up to be let down unless the goal is to lay claim to a #nailedit if Fox fails next year and gets fired...
As far as Fangio, hope he sticks around but ultimately it's out of my control. If Fangio leaves because Fox decides it's time for him to go or because he takes a job elsewhere or because he says he's tired of this organization, then I'll be rooting hard for the next DC to be successful.
