Here is an update on the stadium. The tax referendum was heartily voted down. So now Warren has less AH leverage than he did a few days ago. He should have struck while he had AH thinking he would go to the lakefront. If he still keeps pushing it now that the team would have to incur more business debt and yet still not own it would be just sheer stupidity. Not that the Bears are a stranger to that.

There was a poll about a month ago on one of the Bears outlets that ended up with fans showing that they clearly prefer Arlington Heights.
Definitely not shocked about that. But IMO, he just lost a lot of his leverage in AH negotiations. Assuming AH is even acceptable to him
"No" received 79%, so it would seem Bears team president Kevin Warren is under as much duress these days as his head coach, GM and football team.
Warren needs to read his audience. There is no way that people want to pay more taxes for a billionaire family's new sports toy. If he didn't see that one coming he's a lunatic.
It's being reported that the Bears are turning away from the Lakefront stadium - it was never going to happen. Now they are looking at the old Michael Reese Hospital site that has been vacant for years now.
The Bears had earlier rejected the idea of a stadium there. But now it looks like they're wanting to build there (maybe Warren believes this is also one of the most beautiful places in America like the Lakefront).

This is the perfect location. I see the logic. We always so many injured linemen that being able to activate a whole hospital onsite at a moments notice is just sheer genius.

This stands a better chance than the lakefront according to the article. But I thought the whole point of the lakefront was that the location was the most beautiful location (short of heaven and transportation there is one way) you can have on earth. So if that was truly his motivation, WTF with going here? Now the guy is starting to worry me. And with this, I do think that he is twisting the screws on AH. I mean he can't be serious.

Well, this location is as close to the lakefront as Soldier Field, but it is on the other side of LSD (LakeShoreDrive), and just a little south of Soldier Field/McCormick Place. Same transportation issues. I'm guessing - like you - that it's more screws to turn on AH.

Except that the hospital is gone, demolished, razed, just like the Bears offense. It's a barren piece of crappy land.
