Interesting article on Mondays for players...

They were talking about that on the radio yesterday. Robinson said he basically just tries to feel a normal human on Mondays. It's a good thing they get paid what they do because their bodies are ruined for the rest of their lives.

Once you add up the major ones with all of the minor ones it's pretty easy to see how the injuries become cumulative over the course of a career.  Any of us who have played sports even at a much lower level can attest to that and these guys are playing demolition derby with their bodies each week for 16 weeks plus.  Few of us have ever done that.

This only tells me even more so why intelligent drafting and the scouting of UDFAs is so important in the scheme of the constant need to replace and upgrade the back end of your roster.  It also places high value of asst. coaches who are great teachers and developers of young talent.  It's a necessity in this era of a salary cap and smaller game day rosters.

Long before they elect to go to an 18 game schedule I'd like to see the NFL expand game day rosters.  If you can have 53 active players then let them all dress for games so that those nursing injuries can take fewer snaps or be used only in emergency situations.  It might extend the careers of many of these guys and the costs are minimal.

We have a saying in my gym "If you played a sport and were never injured...you didn't really play", and thats pretty much the truth.

I never understood why the league limited teams to less than 53 dressed players on game day...never made any sense to me. I'd also like to see them expand the amount of practice squad players a team can have...why just 8 guys?

Didn't the league mandate that thigh pads and knee pads must be worn a couple years ago ? Then we see guys obeying the rule with " thigh pads " that are about as big as a pb&j sandwich , and knee pads that don't even cover their knees . Plus NO head to head contact ( use ur shoulders ) but the shoulder pads are about 1/3 the size they used to be ( we hear something about equal/ better protection from advancements in equipment ... and I don't buy it ). I ain't saying there isn't a ton of pain , but there's also a warrior mentality of fk it it comes with the territory and I'm such a badass that I won't even use the full allotment of protective equipment I could .... so some of this pain is added by their own volition . Doesn't really make sense to me , cuz it makes them less healthy than they could be , and if I was a coach I'd be making them armor up as much as possible so they're healthier .
