Bears to begin demolishing Arlington Park next week!

But they are already $200 million in on it plus demo costs.  Yes the land could be sold but it really doesn't change the value of the team.  The teams value before all this started was something in the $1.5 billion to $2.5 billion range.  A team with a fully developed and functioning new style stadium with all the associated bells and whistles is worth anywhere from 2 to 4 times that.

If the Bears wanted to sell, they would have gotten about the same amount of money for the team before buying the old racetrack.  They could make some money on the racetrack once it has been improved by all the demo.  But the demo is going to be a very costly effort.  My guess is the profit on the demo'd racetrack would be less than 5% of the value of the team.
