With Nate Davis not attending voluntary OTA's, Ja’Tyre Carter, was moved up as the starting RG reps over Lucas Patric, Dieter Eiselen, and Alex Leatherwood. Davis will be the starter at RG. But it is interesting to see how Carter has improved and developed into a guy the Bears value like this. As the article says, it sure looks like Carter can be a very valuable swing G for us. Quality depth. He was a 7th round pick out of a small school (he was a LT at Southern U), but has been working really hard to ascend as a G.

I'm thinking the Alex Leatherwood experiment may be at an end sooner rather than later.
Its very very early of course but so far Patrick and Carter are the main backups. Not Borom or Leatherwood.
I think we could see Borom as the swing tackle because he has had a number of starts as both LT and RT. He is not a good starter, but could be a good backup. Patrick and Carter are more G backups (Patrick at C too). I'm not saying this will be the case, but just saying it could end up like that.

If Borom can avoid concussions, he’d be an excellent backup as he’s flashed that he can play all across the line except center.
Underwood definitely struggled last year. He had I think 1 good game then fell off a cliff. It's definitely good last chance here this preseason.
Agree, it may have been his first or second game. I don’t recall seeing anything about what he’s been doing this offseason to improve himself. It’d be interesting to know if he’s putting in the effort needed, or just mailing it in…
