Started for the Raiders last season...real solid against the run.
Now we can sign Ngakoue, they would complement real well
After the draft on a one year rental as a one trick pony edge rusher I could see it. But it's only gonna work if he's used only as a pass rusher. He's a bad or worse than Muhammad was a run defender. We got gored last year because our DEs could not police the edge. Let's not repeat that again.

Perhaps that is why there is little movement on him so far. Tips the hat of an OC that a rush is on the way. I guess on a third down situation it is good to have someone like him out there but at what cost?

I've been a Bears fan for a long time. It started in Waco Texas (my home town) in the mid-1950's as a young boy. My family frequently went to see the home town Baylor Bears play. I've been a Big 12 fan ever since.
Andrew Billings was a home town Waco boy. In his senior year at Waco HS, he broke (and set the current) the Texas State high school power lifting record (link). He lifted 805 on the squat, 500 on the bench press, and 705 on the dead lift for a combined weight of 2010 lbs. Not shabby for an 18 year old.
He played three years for Baylor (2013-2015). I watched him play every game I could (probably watched over 80% of Baylor's games those three years). Watching him play was like watching a man play with boys. He was constantly double and trip teamed. There is a college highlight video below.
His stats aren't very impressive. He doesn't get a lot of tackles, sacks, hits, hurries, etc. But what he does is absolutely demand double teams. He is relatively short (6'1") and huge (330lbs). He is immensely strong, has a great anchor. It is almost impossible to move him backwards. He does get a decent push up field in the passing game. If we get enough f a pass rush in 2023 where Billings gets single blocking, he will disrupt the passing game by collapsing the middle of the pocket (unless the single OL opponent is a perennial All Pro). Other guys will get credit for the pressure or the hit or the sack.
In a scheme where there are two other rushers who demand doublle teams, he will be a very effective 3 down DT. He is a classic NT. But another Aaron Donald, he is not!

He is a really interesting player when you envision his fit here with the Bears. He seems to be a fairly low-mileage body guy... he just turned 28, and reading his wiki it looks like he hasn't played a whole lot of game reps (Covid opt out guy and was not a starter). As a rotational interior DL guy he should be a big help. I could see him disrupting the pocket on pass plays and making our run-defense a lot better. I do like the Bears signing him here... great fit.
