Hey, everyone, I just wanted to let you all know that BIH is back on the messageboard. BIH, thank you for coming back. You were missed by many here. I feel like we have all weathered some very very tough years as Bears fans. But now things are looking up. Finally.

We all have so much "positive" stuff now to look forward to as Bears fans. AlexM thank you once again for providing this wonderful messageboard where mature fans can have some great, thoughtful, discussions. It is so good to have a place without the meatball fans and trolls. And I respect how we work so very hard to just "get along" together. That is so rare on social media outlets. This place is truly one in a million.

I was actually planning to be lurking for a while but I guess I can't do that any more.

And having this forum is I am sure a labor of love for Alex and JABF. It takes lots of personal effort to make sure things work right. Lots of people on this board that I really like so it's an exciting time to be back. Many good things happening and it's fun to share with people you enjoy chatting with.

Hey Butkus! Yeah, I think it should be fun if you are going to take the time to do it, and the rebuild does look promising.

I was telling JABF that it looks like Poles is the real deal. I've always strongly felt that when you have the right management, things will come together. Right now Poles looks like the real deal. To me, he has shown the ability to put together a plan and execute that plan. The last part of a successful rebuild, however is the ability to pick the right people. He really has been able to put himself in a position to have the resources to succeed. If he uses those resources to pick the wrong people (Detroit used to be the poster child), then it does not matter how many resources you manage to come up with. It's that last part I am now watching for. His picks so far seem good. A few even REALLY good. However a few I think are questionable. No one is going to get them all right but right now I only rate him a little better than average on talent. On strategy, planning etc., I think he going to be one of the best. We are going to get to see how good he is on talent very soon

My hope is that this year he is in a much better position than his first year here. He now has the scouting department built to what he wants. He has a HUGE resource in Ian Cunningham to help him. Cunningham will be a GM next year I'm sure. And Eberflus & Poles were rookies at their positions last year - and both coordinators were new to their positions. Now they all have that first season under their belt and can build on that experience. And the scouting department should be 100% set now with the coaches and these schemes, and be better. My point is that I do think we will see talent acquisition being better as we go forward. And as you said, no one is going to be perfect at this. But you have to have a high batting average in the draft and FA.
