trade the hell out of that pick. garner so many picks over the next 2 years you cannot do anything but get better
Football gods smiled on us. Pretty much the ONLY thing the Bears did well in 2022 was to execute the PERFECT TANK.
You trade the #1 pick. It's not even a question. You take the best offer--and there will be offers--and you trade 100%. Even if the best offer is not quite up to expectations, you trade anyway.
This is a shot to get your "#1 WR". You won't get one in FA and drafting/developing one takes time and is a crap shoot. If Vegas calls--and they will--you tell them the #1 pick will cost their #7 + Davante Adams MINIMUM. He wants out of Vegas anyway after them dumping his buddy, Derek Carr.
If Carolina calls, you tell them DJ Moore is part of the package. And so on.
This is your shot to get a stud WR. We have the cap to cover the contract which most teams don't.
If the Bears trade Fields, I might go from being a crazy Bears fan to a casual Bears fan. Starting with another rookie means another 2 years in the wilderness. I'm too old for that ......

+1 It wouldn't be just 2 years. More like 40, 50 or more. Maybe never. Endless guys like the past 40+ different starting Bears QBs who failed here.
We have our guy if Ryan Poles supports him with top-tier talent next year.

I think that scenario is way far-fetched and has virtually no chance of happening. Bears don't need to worry about "2 more years of rookie contract" as they're sitting on a huge pile of money (which was the point of the awful tank year we just finished). And I don't buy the idea that you need that time becuase the roster is so bad.
The roster is bad no question but I guarantee there's huge turnover coming. Half, maybe 2/3rds, of the current roster won't be here on Labor Day. There will be multiple new starters on both sides of the ball. Jacksonville was a horrifically bad team 2 years ago too. Heck, they were a clown college just last year with Urban Meyer as HC. Yet, in the 2nd half of Lawrence's 2nd year they turned things around and made the playoffs. Not saying they're going on a deep run but clearly they're a team in ascendance.
We can be in 2023 what Jacksonville is now. The old saying about a bird in hand being worth two in the bush applies here.
Yup. Insanity. Fields sacks, INTs and pass rating are partly his fault. But mainly due to a lack of any WR talent. Not to mention our top WR talents (not saying much!) and O-linemen have been on IR or injured. Not to mention coming off a Nagy year that severely hampered his development.

For some reason I can't figure out how to add a pic from my phone, I usually use tapatalk but there seems to be an issue with it and our site.
I did what I mentioned in some thread. I traded #1 for the #2 pick. Then traded that for the #6 pick and what I haul I got lol.
#6 DT Jalen Carter #12 EDGE Tyree Wilson #18 OT Peter Skoronski #33 WR Rashee Rice #51 OC Sedrick Van Pran #55 LB Tommy Eichenberg #59 WR Marvin Mims #64 RB Sean Tucker #120 OT Carter Warren #135 TE Luck Schoonmaker #158 CB Noah Daniels #196 S Sydney Brown #199 OG Brandon Kipper #207 LB Shaka Heyward
I also got a Det 1st, Hou 1st and Cle 1st next year. I mostly drafted BPA but I did reach a bit for a position I knew was needed more so. I used a site called PFN mock draft Simulator and had fun at work lol.

That would be an amazing draft. I noticed that when I drafted lately, the top TE in this year's draft, Michael Mayer, is sometimes available in a trade down and a great value pick to go with OL and WR. A trade down does a lot of fixing for the roster for both offense and defense. I hope the GMs lose their minds and get into a crazy, epic, bidding war for our #1 pick. LOL, something worthy of making into a reality TV show :-)
