Biggsy ponders if it might be Broderick Jones at 9. Too high?
Everything I've read about Broderick says in a nutshell: "has all the tools and traits but technique is still raw". In other words, compared to PJ, he's a lower floor player at this point.
For me, when comparing two similar players I always give a strong nod to the higher floor guy.

How does having “raw technique “ create “higher floor”? And why take a guy with raw technique when he can get a guy with solid technique?
if I wanted to go that route, I’d take the other Jones who is 6-8, 374 and a certified ROAD GRADER. Best run blocker on the board.

Read it again. You misread what I wrote. I said LOWER.
And if you are referring to Dawand Jones, he's a complete scheme misfit for us. He shouldn't be on the Bears board at all. He may be a road grader but his feet are way too slow for Getsy's blocking scheme. That's the reason we were all told why they weren't interested in a 26 yo, 4-time Pro-Bowl OT who ended up signing for cheaper than McGlinchey (O Brown).
Okay, so lets play a mock. Poles says he's willing to drop back some more, it doesn't necessarily have to be for more picks, but possibly falling back to get another 2nd at the cost of a later pick w/less value. Also this allows for WR or CB to be taken in the first. Lets see how it works out.
traded 9, worth 1350, got 20th, 37th, 123 and a '24 3rd. +160ish, considering the one trading up is expected to over pay a bit. 160 is to much, well the future 3rd is 80, so it doesn't effect this draft and it's closer to even.
20 Deonte Banks CB JSN was taken Van Ness also gone, basically everyone we've talked about is gone. Thought about RT but The 2 OT prospects liabilities were "athleticism", seems a problem for a team that likes to kick the OL out to block downfield. WR's didn't match "tall/long" so went CB which is a big need.
Deonte can play in and outside at CB, a complete CB but lacks discipline and can get out of place if he gets behind the WR, both correctable issues.
37 Adetomiwa Adebawore DT Probably should have went edge first here, but there were a bunch there and hoping one falls. DT is the bigger need here.
53 Matthew Bergeron RT. I was mistaken, but to be honest I doubt Ade is here anyways. MB is an athletic RT that is capable of getting to the 2nd level and taking on LB's. He needs work on his technique on pass blocking, but this team turned a 7th round OT into a year 1 starting LT, it's not beyond their means to get a RT basic skills to pass block; its much harder to get a RT pass protector capable of kicking to the next level. This guy makes a ton of sense for Chicago.
61 Joe Tippman OC Bears need a OC that can not only move to the outside/2nd level but also protect Fields on passing downs. Tippman can do both, this has to be a target for Poles imo.
next pick is odd, so let me explain, nfl.com's scores aren't always in line w/mock sites, obviously, but some are just to far off. ex on multiple profile they have Zach Harrison as a backup, w/an inconsistent motor and KJ Henry that is seen as an eventual but average starter. But multiple mock sim's have him several rounds higher. So while KJ is normally getting taken in the 4th or 5th rounds, reality is if teams have him as an average starter, and Zach as a backup, no way is Harrison a 3rd or 4th option. I'm going to swap these guys and consider this a criminally under rated player.
64 KJ Henry Edge. He needs to work on his game to be more consistent and take advantage of his length and athleticism.
103 Cedric Tillman WR. Poles wants Tall Big go up and get it WR's, this dude is that guy, not the fastest guy but can definitely block downfield and get 50-50 balls
Traded up a bit, lost my early 4th and a 5th
105. Andre Carter II, Edge. Dude is 6'6" and 256, seen as an Edge in a 3-4, but 1yr in an NFL weight room on an NFL diet and this guy screams 4-3 Edge all day, 25-30 lbs on that frame and he won't lose any of his athleticism.
133 Colby Wooden DT. The Bears get another DT, and they need it, their starting and depth were lacking last year it will be a strength in the future even if not this year.
Guy has starting potential and is also a guy that will get behind the line and after the qb.
136 Kenny McIntosh RB. Bears need another guy, they get that guy.
218 Alex Forsyth IOL. Seen as a backup w/starting potential at G and OC, much like the DL the OL is now starting to become a strength.
258. Cory Trice DB Seen as a likely safety he can do either in a nickle or dime situation.
Honestly I probably should have tried to trade up earlier but the site i was using was flying. I don't think the team keeps 11 picks, likely gets it closer to 9. But if they do they really can reshape the back of the roster, which was just as lacking as the front last year.

I don't know squat about the later round guys but yeah I really like AA, Tippman, Bergeron, and Tillman. If the Bears don't go OT in round 1, Berg is my round 2 guy.
TBH, I don't know enough about Banks but if you say he's the shit, makes sense to me. CB is a prime/subprime position to draft in round 1 and we definitely need a Vildor upgrade.
Nice mock for a big trade-down scenario. Who was at #20 you traded with....Tampa?

Traded w/Washington. So w/nfldraftlounge I'm not sure about their big board or how accurate it even tries to be, but the trades it forces you to make are fair. Nothing to out of left field, even if some they offer you are. It show's a slider allowing for the trade or not, and it seems to pair up pretty much with the 2023 trade chart. And the slider allows for you to take advantage, or get taken advantage of or 50/50 w/in range of acceptability
Don't know much about Banks either, it was just a quick read on nfl.com's profile, but he's got the size and ability to be the 2nd CB.

Okay, I misread it. Regarding the scheme, I understand the zone blocking scheme and all that. I know they would never draft Dewand Jones. I was just imagining a POWER BLOCKING “scheme” with 700 pounds of straight ahead power with him and Jenkins on the right side and ZONE BLOCKING with Brax and Davis leading Hebert/Foreman on sweeps around the left side like last year. It’s unconventional, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work.

Washington picks at #16. Seattle is 20, I just looked it up. That draft sim is....interesting.
