I did not say he brought in bad tacklers. I said he brought in bad run-stoppers who are losing the battles in the trenches. You can be a great tackler but if it’s after the runner has already gained 5 yards, you are not a run-stopper. You can teach a guy to be a better tackler (that’s fixable). You can’t teach a guy to be as big and strong as Hicks. We need a couple immovable defensive linemen, and we don’t have them.
Shark made a comment about the tackling being fixable. You said it wasn't "because of the guys Poles brought in". These are your words.
Yes, I get that. You can believe me or not— I don’t care. I was NOT thinking about tackling when I said it can’t be fixed, although you are correct to take it that way. I was thinking that our lack of run-stoppers can’t be fixed, because we no longer have Hicks, Goldman — guys who can stand their ground in the trenches instead of getting pushed around. Go back to my actual words (page 7). I said the problem is “not good run-stoppers” not “bad tacklers” (butkus misquoted my words).
1. Bad tackling can be fixed. 2. It’s going to take roster changes to fix the problem I’m seeing. I might be wrong. It wouldn’t be the first time. Nobody can “prove” anything after two games, but I will be surprised if the 2022 Bears defense is strong against the run. To be determined….

We had Hicks and everyone else you lamented being gone last year and we were terrible against the run.

As I said before, we rarely had them all healthy and on the field together.

How does having Hicks who has been injury prone this year as well as Goldman ( Who quit football ) not change the fact we were bad last year. As Butkus said. The only real impactful player that left was Mack. Heck he already has 4 sacks this season. He was leading the team last year before his injury put him out. Can't compare the 2018 days to today..

Not saying that. As a unit, Hicks, Mack, Goldman, Nichols are better football players than this crew that Poles brought in to replace them. That’s what I believe. Even with their injuries, they gave up about 125 yards. It would have been a lot better without the injuries, especially to Hicks and Mack. Poles didn’t make our rushing defense better. It’s going to be much worse, and he’s responsible.

Fixed it for you
It's no longer 2018
Oh, I thought it is still 2018. Of course, they are no longer 2018. I predict our rushing defense will be much worse (total yards) than 2021, and Poles guys are off to a great start toward proving it.
