I know he’s bad now. That’s why he’s the only player ever drafted in the first round and cut after one season. If you can think of any other, pray tell. It’s conceivable Morgan can rehab him. That’s what they’re betting on. If that fails, the remaining question is whether it’s a 2-yr. Failed experiment or 3-yr.
No one disagrees about now. the question is, next year after being moved the the left side, and learning a system more beneficial to the player what will he be?
Okay but if it works? You are acting as if that isn't a possibility, which is most certainly is; you keep trying to use science or prognosis; but DR's and scientists wouldn't come to such a strong conclusion so soon. Might have a theory, but wouldn't assume it's correct.
Taking a flyer on a very young player w/1st round talent, putting him on the left side(his natural position) and in a system that works towards his strengths, are all steps that can make the move work.
I'd understand your stance if the idea was to have him play the right side, in the same system the Raiders used. But that isn't whats happening. We have gone over, on this page, 1000 times about how hard it is for OL players to move left to right or vice versa. It was discussed at length w/Long just moving from RG to RT, then whether or not to move him to LT. He even talked about how hard that would be.
Your entire basis is flawed from the start, if it doesn't work, you'd have come up w/the right answer using the wrong math and still not get credit for your work.
Look at the official depth chart. They don’t have him on the left side backing up Braxton. They have him on the right side backing up Borom. Why? There is somebody in the Bears organization who has the fantasy that he can play RT. I am cynical enough to speculate (not KNOW) that part of the motive is to avoid paying Reiss $7.5M up to $10M in case Borom goes out with injury. The other part is that they want to thoroughly test the Leatherwood at RT hypothesis in 2022 before they cut him. And, if they play Letterwood ahead of Reiss, you guys will tell me that means Letterwood is a better RT than Reiss. BS.
