I think it is time for Jay to go, but really would like to see him here one more year if we have a legitimate QB prospect that could learn from him
What do you want the prospect to learn from him? How to hold onto the ball to long, throw off his back foot, or how to decide who you are going to throw to before the ball is snapped?

He led the league in INTs a few years ago. No one is more qualified to teach the finer points of picks than Jay. He even throws to the linemen. And there is fumbling. He has done it in almost every situation. Even behind the goal line for a quick 2 points (only problem is the other team gets to put them on their board). And pouts. No one can teach pouts like Jay. He has a lot to offer.
Seriously though, I think Jay knows WHAT to do, he just doesn't do it. Sitting and learning the QB position is never a bad thing. Even behind Jay Cutler.

IMO Cutler has to go just to relieve pressure any draft pick will come under. Anyone they draft is going to start his career with the weight of 20 different QBS since 2000 (at least whats what I heard today.) Anyone they draft is going to be assumed to be the starter from day 1. Imagine what happens with the fan base if the rookie can't win the starting job in camp. Imagine the outcry when the rookie opens the season 0-4 with more picks than TDs.
I know people like to say the fans and public outcry have nothing to do with who plays and who doesn't, but public pressure is a thing.
Not having Cutler here gives the rookie breathing room. It gives the poor guy a chance to grow into the job without looking out for Cutler over his shoulder. Its going to be bad enough when Hoyer is the #2, imagine if Hoyer is gone and Cutler is the #2 with Shaw as the #3. Rookie gonna have a breakdown.
Cutler's body has to be high-mileage to the max. He has absorbed incredible physical beatings over the years. He hasn't finished a football season in years (I think 2009 was his last full season). The article mentions he "only" costs us $12+ million dollars next year... plus a few million more in incentives.
That's still money spent that we could put to better use elsewhere.
Much of that is his own damn fault though; this season is a perfect example. 4 sacks 7 games Hoyer/Barkley, 17 sacks w/Cutler in 5 games. He's always done a bad job of getting the ball out on time.
And here's the irony - he does it because he's really trying ... he doesn't give up on a play when he should .
