The only problem I think there is with Patty O was his returnable punts within the 10 yard line.
I thought I saw a stat that he was within the league average of ball placement. My guess is a cheaper, younger punter can be had with better placement. I worry about his handling of the ball and what it could do with our kicking game.
Don't quite get why he wasn't re-signed. Dude's been very consistent and above average if you ask me.
ptisme you've gotten a good one. No argument there.
He'll rarely be used:). JK... It was telling that as bad of a year Crosby had the Packers have (so far) decided to keep him... The punter they have is amazing in "warm" whether and wasn't a great holder... My guess is they like O'Donnell for his holding skills and cold whether punting...

Wait, are you saying that players that are good in cold weather can sometimes have an advantage over players who aren't? Who knew?

Here I was told that cold weather never matters.
Oh it matters. My team has a warm whether quarterback who claims he wants home field in the playoffs

Yup. We're short on available cap so we don't need to be paying $2 mil for a punter and holder for PK. Brian Winslow's salary is $825k and his career average is within spitting distance of O'Donnel's. If you can spit 6' at any rate.
And if we can't find anyone else worth drafting in round 6 and that kid from San Diego State is still available draft him. The one they call the "Punt God". The kid from Penn State isn't a bad punter either and rookies only cost $705k.
