Pernell McPhee on facing Eli Manning: We gonna sack him
LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Chicago Bears linebacker Pernell McPhee insisted on Wednesday that the Bears defense has something special in store for New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning on Sunday.
"We gonna tear their ass up," McPhee said. "I don't care what everybody else did. We gonna sack him. He can throw the ball as many times as he wants -- we gonna sack him. I'm gonna make sure of that."
McPhee's comments occurred after the veteran pass-rusher was asked about the Giants' above-average pass-protection.
Despite many in New York being dissatisfied with the play of the Giants offensive tackles, Manning has been sacked only 12 times in 350 pass attempts. For comparisons sake, the Bears have allowed 18 sacks in 322 attempts.
The Bears defense is the strength of the team, ranking 11th in total defense (341.2) and eighth in sacks (24).
After spending the first six weeks of the year on the PUP list, McPhee has a sack in each of Chicago's last two games.
I heard that sound clip yesterday and thought it was pretty funny. Just some good, old fashion trash talking. You really don't hear it that often anymore.
I can only hope...I'll be there so I hope it's better than the last time I went to a Giant's v Bears game at Metlife. I keep trying to forget that game...I don't Cutler has that problem since he was sacked something like 9 times in the first half alone.
