Brutal. Thats the word. Can all bears fans get together and brutalize fox? I hope there are a few rods left over for fan use...
It is brutal and the words to describe it all should be brutal as well. Bears fans don't deserve this especially after the Emery/Trestman/Tucker fiasco. Unless the McCaskeys feel like giving away all of the tickets to the 2017 homes games as an apology if I were them I would fix this asap.
Yeah, it's another failure but sitting on your hands doing nothing about it only compounds the failure.
When a player like AJ screws up and gets suspended it's expected that he will accept responsibility for it and make the necessary apologies to all involved and make amends for it. So why doesn't the same thing apply to the Bears front office and ownership? It should shouldn't it? This is not the time for silence on their part. It's time for some action.
The same wonks who brought in Trestman and Phil Emery also were responsible for Fox and Ryan Pace, and worse, send help, they're still here. Why would you trust what George McCaskey and Ted Phillips decide?
This right here is all you need to know. We won't be able to turn this franchise around as long as Ted and the McCs are running the clown show.
We all have our favorite cadidates for the GM and/or HC job, but we should really focus on the ownership and team president instead.
Except Pace and Fox were recommended by Ernie Accorsi...who is a football person.
Yeah? Well then find another football person because Accorsi's best laid plans failed.
Am I the only person here whose ever taken advice from someone I though knew more than I did and had it flop? You aren't honestly gonna use that as an excuse to maintain the status quo are you?
I never said anything about maintaining the status quo. The statement was "The same wonks who brought in Trestman and Phil Emery also were responsible for Fox and Ryan Pace, and worse, send help, they're still here. Why would you trust what George McCaskey and Ted Phillips decide?" Followed by you need a football guy to make decisions.
Thats not true. They brought in a football guy, Ernie Accorsi, to help them make a football decision. That decision hasn't exactly worked out on the coaching end. I still think overall Pace has done a fine job as GM.

There in lies the problem, b/c if I remember it was another group that brought in the previous group. So this time it will be another group bringing in another group.

Sorry, I was a little terse there. It's not one of my better days.
I can't fault Pace for his personnel acquisitions either. He's head and shoulders above JA and Emery in that regard but for now that may be where he expertise ends. Since Phillips was apparently made untouchable the next best thing was probably to recommend a vet HC but it's worked out far less effectively than planned. Is that Accorsi's fault? I don't know. It all depends on how the whole deal came about but at least once source has claimed that Fox may not have been Pace's first choice.
But clearly the problems at the top need to be dealt with. If the McCaskys aren't selling, and I'm sure they're not, then GMcC can't go running off hiring a consultant whenever they need to make a coaching or GM change. That's why I insist they need a guy to head up football operations whose senior to Pace. That's where is guidance should be coming from not his HC. That ends up being the tail wagging the dog which I what I feel has happened. How do you fire your mentor and yet that's what's called for now.
If they refuse to turn over the full operations of this team to a top football exec I don't see much changing. They'll continue to make money but the franchise will remain a second tier organization for the foreseeable future and they will have gone back on their promises to change all that. Once that happens again I'm out for the count until it's done.

Ernie is on the Lion's payroll now. but I would not have wanted to use him again anyway after how well his last advice worked out.

I don't really disagree with any of that. However I think the next HC hire...whenever that comes should be up to Pace. It's his baby. I think there are a lot of issues present, but the Chicago media has to decide which narrative it wants to promote. Last week we heard how much of a leader Cutler was, how much he was liked in the locker room, and hell he even gave a great speech to rally the boys. This week he plays like shit, and it's the locker room hates him. Which one is it? I think Fox doesn't want him and that impacting things...which is a Fox issue. You're stuck with him right now so figure it out.
