We knew this would be a big problem entering the season with Fuller no longer being here and Jackson being a ghost of his former self.
Couldn't agree more.
I'm not even gonna bitch about how bad they were because you'd have to be the dumbest football fan on earth to not see this coming. We have maybe 1 decent corner (you need 3) and 2 JAGs at safety now that Eddie Jackson has decided to pursue a new career as a part-time tour guide/part-time matador.
Expect them to be abused all year long by quality QBs and WRs. It's gonna be a painful 6-7 win season.
Much respect for Monty. He fought like hell all night long and was basically the only reason we were still in the game in those three quarters.
Secondary is BEYOND AWFUL. Pathetic. Laughable.
Front 7 didn't create enough pressure. That really needs to change. These 3rd down conversions really piss me off.
Alec Ogletree is freakin idiot. If you can't keep your emotions in check, stay on the sideline.
I know it's just one game and as Lovie used to say, there's lots of football left to play.
But I'm really getting sick and tired of these humiliations on prime time. Same crap every year.
I am too!!
Let's dispense with all the disclaimers I know I'm gonna hear: Yes, we know Rams are good Yes, we know Rams were heavy favorites Yes, we know "this season is about Fields getting ready for future" Yada yada yada
I'm so freakin' tired of being an NFL doormat. I'm so tired of being a big underdog every time we face a "good team". I'm so tired of waiting for "the future".
Why can't we have a top-notch GM who can build a complete roster and not take 2 decades to do it?
Put it this way: put the QBs completely aside and compare the remainder of the two rosters. Get the picture? The Rams are clearly superior at every position group except maybe RB (cuz they lost their starter to injury) and its not even close. That's how far away we are from being a top contending team. I wish it was just "waiting on Fields because Trubisky was a bust" but it isn't. If the Bears had had Stafford's genetic twin under center last night they still wouldn't be near parity with the Rams.
Ryan Pace has had 7 offseasons as GM. And the roster he has assembled still lacks key talent on both sides of the ball. The defense is in steep decline since 2018 and is rapidly aging. The offense is un-explosive, remains way below NFL-average, and still struggles to score 20 points*.
Besides Fields, there really isn't anything on this team to be excited about. I really really wish ownership had had the balls to clean house last January when they had the chance. Ryan Pace isn't gonna get us where we want to go.
*Mean scoring per game in the NFL 2020 season was 50 which means on average it takes 26 points to win. You aren't gonna win many games scoring <20 points.
Yes, the secondary. Trufant was starter for the Saints today in ther rout of the Packers. This secondary is going to get a boatload of deflated footballs. Can’t cover. Can’t tackle. That first TD was especially pathetic.
