"After missing nearly two weeks of training camp with what the Chicago Bears described as knee soreness, inside linebacker Danny Trevathan started in the team’s final preseason game. His short outing apparently was enough to determine he will need a stint on injured reserve.
A league source said the Bears are expected to place Trevathan on IR, which adds context to the team’s decision to keep seven inside linebackers on the 53-man roster."
Remember that young guy that we let walk for the older and slower Danny T? Although I really have no clue how Nick Kawasaki did on his new team.
At least we signed another 30 year old (Alec will be 30 by September's end) to fill in for the old guy. Woulda been nice if Iggy could popped this offseason instead of Ogletree.

Bears have the oldest roster in the NFL. Not a joke, that's a statistical fact.

At least Alec is cheap. Would be nice to hit on a LB like Nick again, I mean Cole Holcomb was a 5th round pick. We have our stud, shouldn't be difficult to find a cheap running-mate, right?

I saw that "oldest roster" comment yesterday. I think we need to take that with a grain of salt. A strong roster is a healthy mix of older vets along with good young people in the pipeline (like Justin Fields and many others we now have). The Bears have been hit hard with the injury bug and had to bring in some older guys (like 39 year old Jason Peters). A number of these older guys are not going to be here for the long haul.
I don't agree with everything Pace has done by any means. In fact I'm pretty critical of many of his moves here. But the "oldest roster" criticism is one to be taken with a grain of salt. There is a LOT of good young talent in the pipeline here. A blind man can see that. But (and here's the rub with me on Pace), we need to see Pace build a team around our new star, Justin Fields, on offense. There is real work to do there. But at least - now - we have someone to build around. Without that franchise QB you have nothing. You're just pissing in the wind year after year. But now? Now there is some good things going on. 2022 and beyond will tell the tale.

So true. Not to mention that Peters being 39 must raise the average by a few points.

What part of "oldEST" is ambiguous? Of course all teams have a mix of young players and vets. Point is, on balance the Bears are older than all of them which means lot of future turnover is coming.
