It hit hard and insulting, but also correct.
I am allowed to speak my mind here, right?
Who said you weren't allowed to speak your mind? Did your post get deleted, muted, changed in any way? You having an opinion and being able to speak it doesn't mean you get to have everyone agree with it. No one was calling you out specifically, you think you are the only one talking about tradition on this topic? It's on every social media platform that has this conversation; it's just a lot smaller then the people hoping they move and get a more state of the art stadium that will have actual comforts for the players and the fans.
I stand by what I was told, even if at the time I didn't agree w/it bc I saw it to be true both w/the fraternity and w/the Bears themselves, and w/other sports teams, Cubs and Wrigleyville, Yankee's tearing down the house the Ruth built, amazon.com, online tv streaming/music, electric cars, crypto currency it goes on and on and if you hold on to outdated ideas b/c of "tradition" you are held back.
You have seen it first hand w/the Bears and insisting on putting their assets into the Def and not O, except for 2-3 times in the last 40 years, and it always went right back to def/run game. The Bears moved out of Wrigley(tradition!), since then the Bears have under a 60% home field wins and an overall lesser record then when they were in Wrigley. What is even good about the tradition of SF and outdoor football for the Bears? The Fraternity would have shuttered if it hadn't changed, lawsuits would and social media would have led it to ruin. The Bears were held back by their own tradition, of playing at soldier field, of being a def and run first team, even as the rules changed.
Lets all be real honest, as JABF said, bad weather games are not fun to watch, it's a mess and not fun to be at. That was something I was told by my brother in law also, especially at the top of that stadium w/the wind hitting you. Drinking isn't as much fun when you are doing to try and stay warm and not trying to get a buzz/drunk. And it hasn't even benefited the Bears, the Bears are far better in good weather and in domes then they are in bad weather at their own field. There is no logical reason to stay at SF, or not have a retractable roof other then "tradition", and the expense.
If the Bears are outbid, which is a real possibility w/Jeff Bezos also putting in a bid, thats fine, but even they see a real need for a change, and them actually putting in a bid proves it.
