I am thinking that an elite QB would make this a good team. Maybe even a very good team. Not a team that can win a SB though. For that, there are a myriad of issues that need to be addressed, and yes, I think HC is one of them. JMO
Oh for Christ sake this team needs more than just an elite QB. Both it and it's HC needs to get their collective heads out of their asses and figure what the **** they're doing in practice and game plans each week that has them looking like they're playing some other team than who they prepared for.
They've played one single game in which for 60 minutes they actually looked like a team that had moved beyond the first preseason game in terms of the way they played. One ****ing game. So someone needs to figure out how schizophrenia sets in over ten days and they go right back to playing preseason football again.
There are 45 players active for a game and no one player wins or loses any game. There is enough talent on this team to beat teams like those we've lost too. Figure out why that's happening and maybe this team turns around. Fail to do it and it won't make any difference who plays QB they'll still be losing games.
No one is saying an elite QB but a competent QB would of won us this game. We have the offensive weapons. We have an improving O-line which has one of the best interiors in the NFL.
OC and HC could also use some changing.
Of course one player doesn't win you the game but the defense was playing good. All they needed the offense to do was to sustain a drive and allow them to rest. Which they couldn't. Cutler was a big problem with that. 4 turnovers...
What's causing this team to lose? Jay Cutler.
You and I both know what the true problem is. They got exposed by a weak defense that allows any joe to have 100 QBR...

Oh you are so very very right. Why that lousy sonuvabitch even lost us the Indy, Jax, and GB games just sitting on the bench with his busted up thumb the dirty bastard!
Well I guess you weren't 100% right about that after all. Damn it all huh?
But you are right about both of us knowing the true problem. It's you and these posts that add nothing new but your daily harangue about Cutler. We know Monster and thank God we got a ten day break from most of it after the Minny game because at least that shut your protest march down a bit for a week or so.
Who knows what a competent QB could have done. We didn't have one today or in the Indy, Jax, or GB games either or for at least half the Philly game. We've won two fucking games and each QB has won one. I'm not sure we have a competent QB period so button it or add something new besides this same old opinion. You know the rules!
tanking isn't allowed but having Fox coach your team while Cutler plays QB is just as good!! People should be thrilled not upset. Thats how you know the trolls from the fans.

+1 We do have a lot of issues beyond QB. We all realize that. And regarding the QB issue, I don't think we are expecting to get an elite QB, although that would be a dream come true. Most folks just one that doesn't hurt the team. Is that too much to ask?
Here is the thing.. An average ticket to an NFL game cost $50 per person (if you are lucky), then pay for parking, food and other items. I don't want the team to tank on purpose. If the team did, I would be pissed off after spending money at the game.
Baseball costs pretty much the same (using your $50) and there are more games so it costs even more, especially if you're a season ticket holder.
While in football you can rebuild without outright tanking, you need to be damn sure you know what you're doing and who will and won't pan out; especially with that first pick. And if you really want an answer you're more likely than not to find him early in the draft than late, though you can find studs later in the draft.
Personally, I would rather know going in that the team was gonna suck and not have the false hope that always pops up only to have our bubble burst after week five.

The problem with Jay is he's like having that kid with so much talent you wonder what he can become someday 'til he runs through the door caked with mud, stumbles over the dog stepping on his tail, the dog yelps jumps up and knocks over a table and breaks the $200 lamp sitting on it, then sonny boy sits down on your $1000 sofa still all covered with mud, and says hi Dad, when are you gonna come out and play catch with me. At that moment you hope he gets run over by his school bus tomorrow.

My hope for Jay is that he gets a fresh start on another team. Another team would know exactly what they are getting. And a fresh start might be just what Jay needs. I have never hated the guy. He is a young guy with a couple of children, trying to do his best - playing for one of the most dysfunctional sports franchises of the last 30 years.
This franchise is a clown show for sure.
Regarding Jay, the whole experience here with him was doomed from the beginning. We (me anyway) thought he was going to be the savior of the franchise... I was sooo excited when we got him here. Of course there wasn't any infrastructure here for ANY quarterback to be successful. You almost feel sorry for any decent QB coming here. Jay's skills when "on" are as good as any QB in the league. He can fire powerful passes into tiny windows in a way that is breathtaking to watch. But when he's "off" it is just as breathtaking, but in a bad way. Still, I don't wish anything bad on the guy. Hopefully he will end his career with a few good seasons on a fresh new team (not in the NFCN).
My hope is that the Bears get their act together GM and coaching-wise and we get a solid youngster at QB. But if they don't fix some things here, we might as well just give up. No QB is gonna save this franchise the way it's run right now. LOL, I consider myself a pretty positive guy. But even I have to admit the franchise is on life support. Not good. A ton of blame to go around from ownership on down...
