I have always liked Mike Furry as a blue collar, overachiever WR. I absolutely LOVE having him as our WR coach now. He's laying it on the line to Anthony Miller. If Miller wants to stay in the NFL he'd better get his head in the game.

Furry was so excited when reporters asked about the new kid - Miller's probable replacement. Being the lone draft pick at wide receiver at rookie camp, Newsome was naturally a frequent target of Fields in Saturday’s practice. “What he can do with the ball in his hands is obviously the reason why he’s coming to Chicago,” wide receivers coach Mike Furrey told reporters Wednesday. “I think he’s tough as all get out, he’s dynamic with that ball, you know he’s got a running back mentality when he gets the ball in his hands.”
When [Furry was] asked about the fourth-year pro, Furrey mentioned all the newcomers and then said, “And know it’s not going to be a need base, you know — we don’t need you. We’ve got guys that are going to be able to produce. You better be a pro, you better be on your details, you better do what we’re asking you to do.”

"Newsome is joining a suddenly crowded receiver room after offseason additions of veteran wideouts Marquise Goodwin and Damiere Byrd, not to mention the fact that Miller and Javon Wims remain on the roster, joining Allen Robinson and Darnell Mooney.
“When you talk about Dazz, you understand that that’s a position he plays where we feel like it’s probably some of the most depth that we have at a position and we feel he’s just going to add to that,” Nagy said.
What can help Newsome stick to the roster is what he is able to provide on special teams. He was a standout punt returner at North Carolina.
“My mentality is really just come in and do my job and try to get a job, honestly, and try to make sure I get on that field any way possible, whether it’s kickoff, whether it’s kick return, whether it’s punt team gunner or whether it’s punt return or receiver,” he said."
