Good article from WCG. I agree with the rankings generally but would just add this:
"Depth" at QB is pretty much a misnomer. Most teams are lucky to go 2 deep with decent QBs. Few, if any, go 3 deep. Most teams only keep 2 QBs on their regular roster anyway. Most teams' QB3, whether on he regular roster or more commonly the PS, are late round draft picks or UDFA types. Bottom line: Pace needs to find a way to dump Foles. Find a partner who needs a vet backup and take whatever you can get (might be only a 2022 6th). Otherwise, the Bears are stuck carrying 3 QBs cuz Foles has no PS eligibility. Bears would save $4m in cap space this year and next by trading him this summer.
I'd feel a lot better about cutting Leno if Pace is able to sign a stopgap vet OT for depth this summer. Kelly (FA from Tennessee) would be fine. Mitchell Schwartz would be even better. SOMEONE who would give us a decent 3rd OT option cuz right now depth behind Jenkins and Ifedi is really thin.
Same goes at CB. We don't really have a 3rd boundary CB behind Trufant and JJ (both of whom have some injury history) unless either Artie Burns or Graham step up big time.
Final thing is we have no real TE3. Harris sucked last year so signing a cheap vet blocking TE would be wise if possible. Graham is really only useful in red zone passing offense. He's too slow between the 20s and can't block for shit.
A couple of bargain bin signings in July or August would sure be nice.

those can and will be addressed as the pre season wears on.
No way you need to do anything w/the qb room. Fields is either starter w/Dalton backing him up, or Dalton is the starter and Fields is backing him up. If Foles makes this roster i'm going to be irate, he was useless on and off the field last year, other then showing that Nagy couldn't call plays based on the lvl of talent he has.

I am not disagreeing with that, but I keep wondering if MAYBE they have that guy on the roster already, if one of the young players has developed and us fans haven't had an opportunity to know this. Maybe not, but I would not entirely discount this possibility. Especially if we are just talking about a quality depth/backup here. We just don't know at this point (as fans) one way or the other.

Ric, I think Foles is on the roster UNLESS TRADED. Releasing him would actually incur a cap HIT this year and Bears have always paid out his guaranteed roster bonus this year. He's not PS eligible of course. Pace needs to dump him even if it is just for a 7th.

Ahhhh...I think that's wishful thinking. Who would that be?
Borom is a 5th round rookie that may have to move inside for the NFL. Simmons is a 7th rounder from last year who never got off the PS. Relying on either of them to man the swing tackle position is a wing and a prayer. Only other option right now is Wilkinson who is a former UDFA cut by Denver after sucking at OT (he's also a better G than T).
I don't see any proven talent, even backup-level talent, at OT on the Bears roster right now past the 2 starters. If one of them is out with injury a few weeks, there's nothing there to replace him with. Signing a capable vet to be the backup OT is a really big need right now. I don't see how Pace can risk Justin Fields without addressing this. Cutting Leno, tho I understand why for cap savings, really hollowed out depth at the position.
Mentioned this a bunch before the draft: it's pretty tough to turn over BOTH tackle starter spots in just one offseason. Doesn't happen very often. KC just did it but they were forced to by 2 injuries.

They do love developing those late round linemen, could be that Lachavious or Wilkerson is who they are hoping can play in the rotation. Or; maybe they see Ifedi as a guy that can start at RT, and move to LT if needed and Wilkserson/Borom can play RT.

don't disagree, he just needs to be gone. There is no value for him on this roster now that Fields is here. Maybe if they ended up w/a guy like Mond who needs to sit year; which is what I was guessing they'd end up with.

The options are there, even if not good.
+1
Yeah, and all I'm saying is that Juan Castillo has 12 young guys on the Bears OL roster right now. He may have one or two youngsters who have developed to the level that they would fit this backup role well by now. Us fans, we don't know where these youngsters are in 2021 as far as how their development is progressing. I am just pointing out that we fans don't know... not saying we DO have backup level talent there. But on the other hand we don't know. Young OL players can develop after a couple of years in the NFL after a guy like Castillo works with them, and also a couple of years in an NFL level strength program. But certainly, if none of our youngsters are even backup material then of course the Bears need to look for that backup talent.
At this point our biggest needs post draft are ILB, OLB, DE and CB. This is why I can't give an A for this year's draft. Third day had too many unnecessary picks on O imo. We're pretty thin on D and basically just an injury or two away from serious trouble.
I'm really rooting for DC Sean Desai to make the most out of it.

I was thinking this too. The TE unit definitely needs help. But it's like that every year with the Bears. I know we have high hopes that Kmet will develop. I think there's a good chance he eventually will.
