When was the last time the Bears drafted offensive players with their first five picks like they did this year? Ross W. Palatine, Illinois
The last time that happened was 61 years ago when the Bears selected offensive players with their first six choices in the 1960 draft. They picked guard Roger Davis in the first round, quarterback Don Meredith in the third, halfback Billy Martin in the fourth, quarterback Dick Norman in the fifth, halfback Ed Kovac in the sixth and halfback Charlie Bivens in the seventh. The last time the Bears selected defensive players with their first five picks was in 2006 when they chose defensive backs Danieal Manning and Devin Hester in the second round—Hester switched to receiver in 2007—defensive tackle Dusty Dvoracek in the third, linebacker Jamar Williams in the fourth and defensive end Mark Anderson in the fifth.

I'm glad that the Bears are realizing that Offense is the only way to succeed in the modern NFL.
You need a QB You need a great OL You need some great targets.
That alone should get you 10+ wins.
You need those things AND a good defense too. Sure, the offense needs to be stout, but the defense can't totally suck. There still has to be a baseline of talent there too. I think this Bears D will have that baseline of talent this year. And next year maybe they add some good young talent there for 2022 - now that we have the QB in place.
I think job-1 for the offense now is to get Allen Robinson signed to a long-term contract. He is young and even last season with pure crap QBs throwing to him, he was a top-10 receiver. With Justin Fields (once Fields settles in to NFL quarterbacking) throwing to him I believe Robinson will perform even better - the best of his entire NFL career. You don't let a guy like that walk. Not if you want Fields to have the best O weapons. You find a way to pay ARob. I think the Bears will.
