"Goldman is pushing hard to return from a high-ankle sprain that kept him out six weeks, but the second-year defensive lineman’s status for Sunday is a tad murky.
“He’s still not 100 percent, obviously,” Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said about Goldman on Wednesday.
For his part, Goldman left open the possibility of being active for the Bucs game.
“I know for me, it’s a possibility,” Goldman said."
I just came across this. Sounds like it may take a bit to have him 100%
Here's what I read about them from one site. So at 6 weeks he's just now able to be out of the cast and begin to practice again. The injury may be healed but it may take him another week or two to get back to 100% as far as his ability to play a full game.
Maybe like McPhee they'll play him for a few snaps this weekend just to get him used to contact again then turn him lose the following week. Syndesmotic injuries tend not to heal as well as more common ankle sprains, that is why trainers and coaches of athletes are often concerned about high ankle sprains. Your doctor will first determine if the injury is stable or unstable. If the injury is stable (meaning the ankle joint is functioning normally), then the high ankle sprain can be treated in a cast, usually for a period of 6 weeks.
If the injury is unstable, then a surgery may be needed to stabilize the ankle joint. Your surgeon will typically place one or two screws between the tibia and fibula to hold the bones in proper position while the syndesmotic ligament heals. The are several methods of fixation of syndesmotic injuries, all with potential risks and benefits.
Sutton, for me, is the biggest positive surprise of the season. After Eddie going down I thought our DL was done.
Yep, he has that low center of gravity he can use to his advantage. At around 300lbs he can't really hold up well against double teams but if they have to double him that leaves someone else with a single blocker. He really hasn't hurt us all that much.
I want the Bears to start molding Hicks, Goldman, and CornWash into a starting defensive line and get them working together as a unit in preparation for next season. Unrein has no future on this them (I pray). Use Bullard as backup in the rotation. I agree about Sutton. He has really stepped up after Goldman went down.

Sutton held his own just fine. But Goldman was an explosive force. Goldman, even with double-teams, was amazing to watch. He would just crush the middle, taking the pocket away from the QB's in passing situations. And he obviously is a real problem for teams in running situations. I believe Goldman could very well be a perennial All Pro in future seasons if he can stay healthy.
Goldman is the kind of player who makes the entire defense better. I believe a great NT can be the very cornerstone of a great defense. You build from there. LOL, but I am admittedly a Dline and Oline zealot :-)

Washington? Is THAT guy still around? I though we cut him years ago. LOLOL
Just kidding David. I had to do it. I'm pulling for him too. The guy is pure beast he just needs to put it all together on the field.

Goldman is also very strong and can occasionally bull rush his way into the pocket, creating havoc that way.
