One more year of purgatory, then, Pace and company may go. Thank you for extinguishing the dumpster fire that was the Bears, we will take it from here.
And by take it from here, I mean find the wrong GM and the wrong head coach and repeat this mistake over and over.

And then totally eff up the QB position YET AGAIN.
I wish Mitch luck but won't miss ever again seeing him drop back to pass for the Bears. He was a massive fail that will be a symbolic albatross around Ryan Pace's neck for a long time.

If Mitch goes elsewhere and is successful, that is a massive fail on Pace (and Nagy) as he selected Nagy to coach him up. I honestly can see this happening.

True, but I don't think you have to worry about that much. Most likely, Mitch will bounce around the league as a journeyman backup.

This is why I would be ok with them trading away picks for Watson. He's a proven top 5 QB and he's only 25. Even if the trade set us back 2-3 years. We still got a decade with him.

Sorry, but given the history of the Bears trading for a QB has been a bust. Remember Rick Meier and Jay Cutler? Who will be Watson targets if Arob goes elsewhere? I think the Bears should draft a placeholder QB in the 2nd and 3rd. So when Pace / Nagy is gone, the new regime can draft a QB in the 1st.
Also in the news, water is wet. Nagy and Mitch don't mix. Nagy will get Foles and his choice of a rookie qb which makes sense; lets just hope he has learned from how badly he F'd up w/Mitch(how can you NOT work on the mechanics of a young inexperienced qb?) and understand that they need more from you then trying to learn your playbook.
Mitch is better off on a new team. And he is not the long term answer here.
The Bears team is a mish-mash of a few good players mixed in with players who are not good enough to help the team win championships. And that should be the focus and goal - win championships. I don't believe that the Bears have the coaching staff or roster (neither) to accomplish that goal. The "ideal" would be to bring in a GM and HC who can accomplish the goal, but that's not going to happen. My hope was that the team would get a new GM and coaching staff in place and then let them do a complete rebuild - building it the RIGHT way, primarily through the next 3 or 4 years of drafts. The Bears have chosen to not do that but rather roll with Nagy/Pace and the roster the Bears continue to "cobble together" that is not good enough, and aging.
I'd be fine with the Bears pursuing Watson, considering that they have failed to draft a true franchise QB over the past 30+ years. But I don't believe for a moment that the Bears can do anything good with Watson here. I'd actually feel a bit sorry for Watson if he did come to play for the Bears. Nagy isn't going to do anything good with Watson, any more than he did with Foles and Trubisky. And if the Bears did trade away a ton of draft picks for Watson, then what the heck will Watson have to work with here? Right? Nothing.
It's a mediocre roster here already. Nagy doesn't look like a very good HC. Pace hasn't built anything special here, and this 7th year of his tenure just looks like the prelude to his firing at the end of this year.
I hope I am wrong. But I don't think so. The Bears (probably for financial reasons) are going to waste 2021 with the status quo of Pace and Nagy. Then begin again in 2022. Hopefully in 2022 the Bears will nuke it all and begin again. But my hope is that they get lucky and get a great GM and coaching staff who can rebuild the Bears right this time. In the meantime 2021 is pretty much another wasted mediocre year in the making - with or without Watson. JMO.

Also, the Bears trading for Watson is going to hurt the franchise long term like the Mack deal did. It is best to get a placeholder QB and wait for a new GM / HC.
