Bad idea. Going all in usually means we're in win-now mode and only need to fill one remaining position.
Have you seen our roster?
Indy could actually pull that off. They're practically a QB away from going to the AFC Championship game.
The odds of Watson coming here are low. He has a no-trade clause in his contract so can pick and choose and I can't see why he's choose to come to a team that isn't well set up for him.
Why would he go to the rumor Jets as well? #2 pick usually means you're a very bad team.

Why would he not? They are loaded with blue chippers. They have been a losing franchise for a looong time now so they are stacked.

Because he could actually turn this pathetic franchise around and become a star in the tri-state area, which is also the largest market in the country. Not to mention it would be perfect for his brand. Athletes love big cities like NYC and LA.
As I’ve said before, I’m not a fan of giving up so many draft picks for a potentially elite QB. Imagine giving up all the picks and not being able to upgrade the OL and eventually losing ARob. We would become Houston 2.0. A very talented QB running for his life who can never reach his true potential, because the offense lacks weapons and the OL can’t protect him.
It’s not like we’re a SB-ready team that just needs a QB. Not even close!
We need a QB, LT, RT and a couple of receivers. And keep in mind that we have an aging defense, very limited cap space and not enough draft picks.
Seriously though, if you really want to sell the farm on a young promising QB, I’d rather call Buffalo and ask what they want for Josh Allen. This kid is just as athletic and quick as Watson, has an even stronger arm, has doubled his numbers each year and doesn’t have Watson’s injury history.
But, as I’ve said before, we don’t have the luxury to trade for a high priced QB. It’s either Mitch, Foles, a FA like Prescott or whatever is left at #20.
Grizz...a couple of things...
1. Watson is ALREADY elite. There is no "potentially" about it. He's a top 5 QB in this league, no if's, and's, or but's about it.
2. While we're weak at the edges of the o-line...we're hands down better than Houston in the interior...which is what matters for a mobile QB. Watson instantaneously improves this offensive line by leaps and bounds.
3. We can franchise A-Rob, and I'd bet a lot of money he'd be very interested in playing with Watson for the foreseeable future. Mooney is going to be solid and Cohen can be used where he should be...in the slot. So no...we don't need a couple of receivers. Oh...and Watson makes our receivers better automatically because he's more accurate with the deep ball.
4. Watson would AUTOMATICALLY make us super bowl contenders. Yeah...I said it. We went 8-8 and went to the playoffs with a shit storm at QB...what would this teams record be if we had a QB like Watson? 12-4...13-3? You don't think we beat New Orleans if Watson is our QB and not Trubs? Come on!
5. Cap space can be created. We've already discussed how Chicago can easily create $30 mill in cap space this off season.
6. Allen is not trying to force a trade out of Buffalo and is still on his rookie contract...thats a pipe dream not even worth addressing further.
I'd trade our first round pick for the next half decade to land Watson. Yeah...thats how ALL IN I'd go. How many first round picks have the Bears wasted trying to address that position this decade? Watson can play for the next decade. This is the no brainer of no brainers to me.

Thats over rated. If that were the case every NBA super star would be a New York Knick. They aren't. Lebron was a brand in Cleveland. You don't need to be in a major market anymore to be a branding super star.

For a great pro athlete I think it comes down to three main factors - a chance to win championships, and they want to maximize their earnings during their limited window of opportunity (a sports career is short and in football can end at any time abruptly). And finally they want to go where they see they are a good fit and can play at their ceiling. I think those are the main 3 factors and no team perfectly checks all three. But I'd guess a guy like Watson (a special talent guy) isn't stupid. He'll go to the team that scores best overall in those 3 categories. Championship potential, money & fit.
I don't know how he would view the Bears. It's obviously not us fans view that counts. LOL, we all see it differently, and that's fine. But I do wonder how he would see this franchise. Could be good or bad. I don't know. I'd think he'd want some reassurance that there would be some level of stability with the coach. He's want to know that Pace was committed to providing the talent on offense so that he CAN be successful here. If he thought Nagy was a season away from the unemployment line and Allen Robinson was leaving town... well, I don't think that would be attractive. I mean, he would be going into the prime years of his career and not want to blow this by going to a dead-end situation. So who knows. Maybe the Bears can get him here.

You could say the same thing with us. Our franchise hasn't had success since the 1980's and before that since the 1940's. We're the third biggest market in the USA.
We are in a much better situation than the Jets. Heck the Jets have had many star players demand to be traded. Jamal Adams to name one.
