This Chitown Bears forum is not your typical messageboard or social media place. We are different - and for a reason.
I'll try to explain what our particular messageboard is all about. It is different than any other board. And there is a reason for this. There is a history that drives this. Most of our pioneer members here came from a Bears messageboard that degenerated with a lot of disharmony and people basically hating on one another. Discussions would degrade into hateful posts and name-calling. Kind of like what you see on a lot of social media. On this board we are grown men & women here who simply want to talk Bears football without any of the hating and disrespect crap (for race, religion, politics or just being an a$$ to others). We respect others here.
It's a big deal with us.
So thanks to Alex, the guy who started this messageboard, we now have our own messageboard that is a hate-free place to relax and enjoy great talk about our beloved Chicago Bears. Our #1 objective is to keep it a place for mature adults to talk football. Everybody respected. No hate (race, religion, politics whatever). LOL, it's kind of like that old "Prime Directive" in Star Trek. Respect others.
We have accomplished our goal and have a really chill place to relax and talk. We are zealots in protecting this place in order to keep it chill here. We are quick to ban people who fail to play nice here.
Think of this place as being like that small neighborhood tavern where friends come to relax and talk. If an outsider comes in and starts being an a$$ - well bad things happen to that person. We are friends here, some of us have been together many years spanning a number of Bears messageboards, AND we welcome new friends. Like you. In fact a number of us here have become such good friends over the years that we have visited each other, like at Bears training camp, and even one person traveled overseas and visited with a board member who lives in another country. This board is "that" kind of place. A good place to be if you are a mature adult wanting good talk with good people.
All of us here are totally committed to having zero-tolerance for anything that is not in line with our vision of a pretty "chill" place.
We really don't dink around going back-and-forth about banning. We are quick to ban. We 100% understand that some people may disagree with this policy. Most boards (maybe all boards) are more lenient. And that is okay for their boards. We respect that. But we are different than other boards. That's just what we are all about - and this has served us well over the years.
We are not trying to be a large and popular messageboard here but rather one that is true to our vision when we started our board. Quality over quantity. Our strict policy has worked for us very well for a number of years now. It works for us.
