Every single NFL team every year that doesn't have a starting QB on a rookie contract finds ways to manage it.
Pittsburg, New England, New Orleans, Green Bay, Detroit, and so and so on.
Yes, but do all of them have a 20+ million WR?
I'm not saying ARob should go, but so far we don't know anything about the $.
And the Teams you mentioned can work around those QBs. Bears have to figure it out and this has priority over the WR. Pace can always add WRs that are solid. Just not the ~10th best.
Just wait and see what he does. ARob will finish the season here and much can change real quick. It's not burnt bridges, it's a situation that can be solved.
You make a good point in that we'll just have to wait and see what he does. I also agree that things can change real quick. In the end it is all about the GM making money decisions to build an overall team that can win the big one - the Super Bowl. Pace is making his decisions (and has for 6 years now). Ultimately, his career here (and maybe his NFL career as far as being a GM again if he fails here) will be based upon the outcome of those decisions. I hope it all works out for us and him.
Since we are talking about the Bears WR group, although not directly about ARob, this is a really good tape breakdown. I too was surprised when Ridley was scratched for Wims but maybe JW is really coming on after a disappointing 2019:
... Also, here's what Furrey said about Wims on Monday:
"He’s a guy now that can go to any position that we need him to. He can go in and serve as A-Rob. He can go in and serve as (Anthony Miller), like when 17 went out yesterday for a little bit. He can play the Z position. And the cool thing right now is that he can play at all three of those positions at a high level. And I trust him. I think he’s just finally scratching that surface of where he could possibly go in this league."
Hoge: A few weeks ago Furrey talked to us about how Wims had been relying on his big 6-4 frame too much, thinking he could just beat NFL defensive backs with his size. This year, the goal has been to stay lower and more compact in his routes and do less at the line of scrimmage against man coverage. This was a great route and Wims' progress is definitely something to monitor."
There are some contracts that could be restructured next year to create some significant cap savings...but thats Pace and the finance side's job to figure out.
+1
After calming down a bit and getting a grip, I'm thinking I need to chill and just watch and see if the team wins under Ryan Pace's moves - all of them and not just the Robinson thing. We don't control any of this. Pace does. The proof of his success or failure will come soon enough. The team will win or it won't. I'm just going to try (really really hard) to relax and enjoy watching the team this season. Whatever happens, happens.
Yeah...I mean I've got enough crap to be stressed about these days...I don't need to add sports to the list. Football is on...I'm gonna enjoy it.
It does not have to be Trubsiky or Foles, but Pace has to think about paying a QB to start. He can't hand out money until the biggest problem is filled.

Only 2 of the teams you mentioned have paid a #1 receiver, and one of them did it in 2017.

New Orleans: Michael Thomas (and Kamara) Green Bay: Davante Adams Pittsburgh: Ju Ju
All highly paid
Juju is on his rookie contract. He's making $4 mill this year.

JuJu Smith-Schuster is currently making $1.3M on his rookie deal and is poised to hit free agency in 2021.

That $4M is the whole 4 year contract! He was a late 2nd round selection, which is why he hasn't made very much.
So a few things about this. Arob is asking for 18-20 mil, Bears as pointed out 15-16 mil. He is likely worth that 18 range, not sure the Bears can afford that though. Also apparently it's not that uncommon for teams to be hesitant to pay WR's a big 3rd contract, not saying it doesn't happen, just teams tend to lean away on the 3rd. I would think that is most positions though, at that point you are talking about guys ending the contract in their 30's and the peak tends to be gone and you are paying premium for less then premium pay(TEND not always)

Maybe they can negotiate something in the middle. That doesn't sound like they are crazy far apart. That 16mil vs 18 mil doesn't anyway. Robinson just turned 27 years of age in August. He is just entering his best years... a nice balance between being a savvy veteran but not "old" yet. If the two sides are only 2mil apart my first thought is that a good GM would find some way to bridge that gap to keep a proven player. He signed a $45mil contract for Mike Glennon (granted he was gone in a year and only got $18.5mil guaranteed). But my point is that this isn't a Glennon-type guy. We know what AR delivers. No matter where they end up going with the QB position after this season, it would be a solid decision to have that WR corps anchored by ARob for the next 3 years or so.
