I'm always optimist every single week. Every single week I create a scenario that I think the Bears can follow to win. Even for the Chiefs game last year.
I never believed that the OFF could play so bad every single week. Every week I convinced myself that this was the week they would turn it around and make the playoff as the "Hot Team No One Wanted To Play."
This year I'm stuck. I can see anything happening. And I'm still excited!!
I know. Just when I thought it couldn't possibly get any uglier on offense - it did. It was so painful to watch football played that poorly. Especially on a pro team. I see better offense than that on Friday night here in town between the high school teams. It makes you wonder how the Bears (last season) could possibly have an offense THAT dysfunctional. Yes, it was the QB. But it was failure everywhere you looked. Every component (including play calling) sucked.

It was a total shit-show, you're right.
I think another season like that, or close to that, gets Ryan Pace fired. It may get Nagy fired too, though I think he deserves a longer leash. Ryan Pace is completely out of excuses. I can't see how ownership could justify giving him another QB-opportunity if 2020 goes straight into the dumper. I sure wouldn't. (And just to add salt to the wound, I read recently that Brady was actually giving Chicago serious consideration this offseason. Can you imagine this team with even an aging Brady on it?)
Maybe after scientists figure out this corona-vaccine thing, they could develop a hybrid Emery-Pace love-child cyborg as the new Bears GM. The Emery part will assemble the O; the Pace part will handle the D. Neither will be allowed to touch ANYTHING else.
