The Chicago Bears 2016 NFL season is in jeopardy right now. Holding a 1-6 record going into Week 8 of the season, many believe that they will not be able to make it to the playoffs for six consecutive years. This is simply because both their offense and defense are not clicking.
Currently, they garnered an average of 15.9 points scored (32nd) and a total of 348.6 yards (18th) offensively while defensively they let opponents score an average of 24.1 points (21st) and allowed an average of 350.4 total yards (12th). With all this happening, the Bears are said to be on the move to make their playoffs aspiration alive.
According to ChattSportsNet, the Bears and the New Orleans are said in the talks for a possible trade deal between their quarterbacks: Jay Cutler and Drew Brees. The report also says that the Bears already waste a lot of time of waiting for Cutler to develop but it seems that it never worked. The Bears also gave up some assets for Cutler but only collected a 50-49 record with him.
Though there's a probability that the deal may cancel because Cutler still has four more years remaining on his contract worth $18.5 million as per stated in the report. But if unloading Cutler would mean getting a more capable QB for the Bears, they might work out something with the Saints with regards to Cutler contract.
In a separate report by Canal Street Chronicles, many analysts say that this could also be the time for the Saints to trade Drew Brees. Though Brees is playing a magnificent season it doesn't convert to wins for the team. The Saints are currently holding a 3-4 record and tied for 10th-13th spot with the Arizona Cardinal, Los Angeles Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Saints have many spots to fill in most especially on the defensive end. Currently, they let opponents score an average of 30.7 points (31st) and allowed opponents an average of 397.4 total yards (28th). And if shifting players will start, it may be Brees who might probably the first one to go.
Will the New Orleans Saints and Chicago Bears make a trade deal for Drew Brees and Jay Cutler? Stay tuned for the latest NFL trade deadline rumors and updates.
