LMAO....I'm starting to think David and MOTM are the same person! You can't be serious. You can't watch Monty play and watch Howard play and conclude that howard is better. Hell...if the Eagles thought Howard was so great they wouldn't have spent a 2nd round pick on Sanders...so save the one game narrative for someone who doesn't know anything about football.
If Howard was still on the Bears, with the way the OL has been run-blocking, he'd have 15 carries for 33 yards.
Don't get me wrong--I like JoHo and he was pretty much the entire Bears O his first 2 seasons--but it was Philly's OL & TE run-blocking last night that was the decisive factor, not the idea that Howard suddenly has morphed into a reincarnated Jim Brown.

Yeah, I liked Howard when he was here and thought he was a decent player for us, but I can't let this revisionist history stand to try to make him something he is not. It seems nobody remembers him dropping two game winning TD's against Atlanta. The guy couldn't catch a cold here. I give him credit for working on it...but I'd still take Monty over him. Montgomery can make people miss, he's gained yardage on a lot of his runs when there was none to be had. Howard couldn't do that.

Okay, I did not say any of that. What I said is that it was a bad trade. To repeat, we would be a better team right now with Howard on the team than what we got out of that trade. He is better player than most people around here give him credit for.

Did you see the Philly-Green Bay game? The Eagles OL dominated the LOS and that's why they were able to run for 175 yards and win the game. Wentz had fewer passing yards last night than Trubisky did against the Packers in week 1.
I DO think Howard is a good player, not a great one, but a good enough one. He has good vision, is solid in pass protection, is a decent short yardage back, and appears to have improved his hands (although he's never gonna be a "good" receiver out of the backfield). To be fair on the other hand, he definitely is NOT shifty or speedy. In fact, he's downright S L O W by NFL standards. That's why he's twice now been valued only as a 5th rounder.
As far as the trade goes, it basically comes down to this: would you rather have an extra 5th round pick or JoHo for one more season (this one) only? That's what it comes down to because he's a FA after 2019 and the Bears weren't going to re-sign him.

It was not a bad trade and we would not be better off with him here. If he were a better player than what we give him credit for he would have garnered more in a trade and the team he was traded to wouldn't have used a second round pick on a player who plays the same position. So your assertion is incorrect.

This is potentially (supposedly) a year where Bears were to compete for Super Bowl. That is how I viewed the trade. Ergo, our chances were better with him on the team than not. Let's see how the season plays out.

How is the team better with a player who doesn't fit the offense? Explain that...and where was this opinion after weeks 1, 2, and 3?

speaking of players that don't fit the offense. A former Bears play has something to say:
You think he has a point similar to the Eagles with Foles and Wentz?
