Out here in Seahawk world, the fans are going crazy over this. They got Clowney for practically nothing. But they only have him guaranteed for one year. Then, they have to figure a way to get a long-term contract. He's not as good as Mack, of course, but he can make an impact this year if he can stay healthy.
Getting Clowney for a 3rd, Mingo, and Martin is a decent bargain for them, and I think they have the cap room to sign him long-term. It's a better deal when you consider they moved their top pass rusher, Frank Clark, for a 1st and a 2nd to Kansas City. Clark and Clowney are on a similar level, so I'd say it was a wise move for them.
Then they gave up TWO first round picks for Tunsil without signing him to a long-term contract. Go figure.
I think they're in win-now mode. They don't care about next year or the year after.
They want to win now. And w/ Luck gone they'll win the division and could actually make it to the divisional rd at least. They're all in which is why they made those very risky, some would even argue stupid and desperate, moves. Only time will tell.
