I just watched the game on GamePass. Besides the complete awfulness of the local Indy announcers, here's my impressions:
Just when I thought Kwiatowski was a goner, he changes my mind. Kwit had a rock solid 1st half with a few good run stuffs, a nice A-gap blitz sack, and an assist on the strip/INT that Bush took to the house. He definitely played well.
Similar story with Nall. Just when I thought he had no chance to make the 53, he outplayed Whyte clearly on offense today. Couple nice runs, broken tackles, screen recs, and a nice TD that was taken away by a penalty. Can he block and cover kicks on STs?
The Bradley Sowell TE experiment continues to baffle me as a dumb move. He's done nothing this preseason to justify keeping him. Bye, bye
Ian Bunting needs to make this team as the 4th TE. I'm sure his blocking needs work but the guy has some quickness and he makes tough catches. Sowell out, Bunting in.
Is there any way James Vaughters can't make this team as the 5th OLB? Vaughters in, Fitts out.
Gotta agree with you, JABF--my God, Chase Daniel looks like ass out there. I get the dink-and-dunk, game-manager thing but holy crap today he had the pocket awareness of a crochet class instructor at an old folks home. Bray way, way outplayed him.
On DL, Nick Williams should be in and Bullard should be out. Williams makes plays, Bullard pretty much just sucks.
On OL, I thought Bars played well. He actually took over T after the Clemmings injury and played better than him. He sticks and if he can play OT as well as OG in a pinch if needed thats a big plus. The rest of the Bears OL backups have been pretty unimpressive this preseason.
One more thing: Eddy Pineiro BOOM!!! Heck yeah!!!!!!!!
PS: I still can't believe Andrew Luck waited until late August to suddenly retire

+1 on all of that.
One additional thought. Nall has a legit combination of talent that can help this team... just a great weapon to have on the roster as a backup. If Monty goes down to injury then a guy like Nall has the receiving skills AND the explosive power run game to be a decent backup. Nall was just blowing people up last night (a man against boys), and that TD run that was called back due to holding was amazing - he just refused to go down and was a bigtime powerback. You couldn't want a better receiving RB. He just has a lot to offer a team.
