Ugh not this again.
There’s a good reason why this divisive pos attention whore doesn’t have a job. People tend to give him way too much credit for that SB run, in fact he was lucky to be in the right time at the right place. He’s nothing more than an overrated one-year wonder with a good coach and great defense. Let’s not forget he couldn’t even beat out Blaine freaking Gabbert and then had to play the race card as to why he was unemployed. The league is way better off w/o him.

Kneeling/standing aside, I have a tough time believing he's worse than some of the backup QBs out there... and a case could be made that he'd start for some teams...
That's probably my beef there. He should be on a roster somewhere.
Now that said, there's some speculation that the big Roc Nation thing is paving the way to bringing him back. Will be interesting.

The speculation I've seen all over the internet about Kaepernick indicates he views himself as a starter quality QB and has wanted playing time and money in accordance with that. Again this is speculation. But if anywhere near true, it explains a lot of why he has been ignored. I am sure there are owners who don't think his kneeling stuff is that big a deal just as I am sure there are owners who think he is toxic and will avoid him like the plague.

Even if certain owners don't have a problem w/ his actions, he would carry a lot of baggage into the workplace and cause lots of distractions which is the last thing any team needs during the season. Losses are part of the game and so are injuries but every team wants to limit avoidable distractions so it's easy to understand why no one wants him. Not to mention he hasn't played a snap in 2.5 years and wasn't even that good to begin with back in 2016.

It seems that Pace took a hard look at him in the 2016 - 2017 offseason when we signed that paragon of QB talent, Mike Glennon. The following quote is directly from one of Layer Mayer's Chalk Talk columns dated March 28, 2017 on the Bears official website (link). In response to a question "Did Bears consider Colin Kaepernick?" .
Yes, the Bears considered all options at the all-important quarterback position—including Colin Kaepernick—before signing Mike Glennon, Mark Sanchez and Connor Shaw. Asked Tuesday at the NFL meetings in Phoenix if the Bears were interested in Kaepernick, general manager Ryan Pace said: “We looked at every single quarterback that was available. To us, it just came down to the skill sets we value. That was us personally evaluating his skill set.” Listening to Pace, it sounded like it was simply a football decision and nothing more. Pace added: “When you’re looking at these quarterbacks, it’s so thorough. You’re watching every single snap and how they fit into your offense, how they fit into your quarterback room. Tha t’s what we talked about with Sanchez, and I like the way our guys all kind of fit together right now.”
I found it while cruising on Erik Lambert's SportsMockery site. Lambert has an article basically saying that the Bears took a hard look at Kaepernick early in 2017 and may do so again.
Personally I think it will take either a change in Kaepernick's approach to playing again in the NFL (specifically $$$ demands) or a couple of catastrophic QB injuries where the demand for QBs gets way hotter than it currently is for him to return.
