I'm sure y'all have heard about it but if not HERE.
I also got a little irritated with a YouTuber I like in Twitter. I'd like to embed my tweet, but I'm not savvy enough to do that.
I'll quote it though:
I know I'm probably coming off aggressive, don't mean to, but I'm sure I am. I'm just trying to bluntly get my argument across.
Obviously I'm defending my boy Mitch but not the way you'd think. I wanna know, who are all these people saying good things about Mitch? Football people, Bears fans, and stats gurus? Or are you simply listening to meatball fans? If you look into quality Bears chat boards they know he makes or breaks us. We don't tout him as the second coming. We know the defense will carry us (though their level of success is hard to sustain) and the offense must progress to compete with a more difficult schedule.
If you'd want to actually dig into it, point to Leonard Floyd, Trey Burton, or my extreme case of Eddie Jackson. Ed Reed, and others, have said he's the second coming of him. That's a lot of praise and pressure. I love the kid but Ed Reed might be the goat of center field.
[He responds back mentioning the MVP bets]
I mean, he started at 200-1 odds. He isn’t the favorite to win the NFL MVP, but he’s the popular pick among bettors. Which says they like the long odds for big money rewards. He's a gamble, nobody thinks he's a sure thing. And you've mentioned before he has positive qualities. His accuracy from a clean pocket needs work. A good coaching system can make a turd shine.
Not that I think Mitch is a turd, exaggerating to make a point. I think he's an inconsistent kid that has accuracy concerns. Thoughts 😅 ?

While I think Mitch will be a great QB for us, we need to see a big step forward from him this year.
If we see that IMO his ceiling will be very very high. But until that happens this is all just a bunch of fans shooting the sh*t in the offseason. Basically meaningless.
Yakety yak, yakety yak. Click bait preseason drivel. MVP ain't awarded till the seasons over. I'll check back then.
I mean, okay. But we are still in the quiet period and there is news that Mitch randomly shot up in MVP odds due to the large number of bets placed on him.
My main discussion point is, do Bears fans overrate Mitch?
What fun is this chat board if someone starts a discussion and people basically come out saying "shut up". Not very inviting.

My hunch is yes we do. Out of sheer hope and maybe a little desperation. With out Mitch figuring it out we are left being the Grossman Bears--- riding en elite DEF and.hoping for a one year everything comes together plan.
It's hard to be an NFL qb and frankly odds are not in Mitch's favor. But if they are......

No disrespect meant to you, I was directing my rant against all the bloggers and so-called journalists that are talking about this. It's like everybody has to be the guy to say he called the MVP thing a year ago when next year he gets MVP. (If he does). There's also the guys that are saying he's a bust, so if he doesn't get MVP, THOSE guys can say I told you so. Some are even covering both sides of the aisle, just in case.
Discuss it all you want, I'm just saying it's all moot. They guy will either be great, average, or he'll suck. PErsonally, I think he's going to be a good one. But he needs to get a couple more years experience before I decide.

I believe Mitch will be better this year-2 in the Nagy system. He's got a good OL, surrounded with good supporting talent & the Bears finally have a decent guy calling plays that will keep teams challenged rather than the John Fox offenses that were so predictable. No, he won't be MVP. And we don't need him to play at that level to win a super bowl here in Chicago. Just keep improving and run the Nagy offense at a high-level. Good things will happen.
