I think it just more fodder for the media, but whatever, meh. If he stays or he leaves it really doesn't move the goal posts much. The ideal time to mutually move will be the off season but nothing would surprise me.
Honestly if you were Cutler would you want to return to a rebuilding team where the fans and coaches have no interest in you even in the short term? I'm not sure why any player, outside of a huge payday, close to their 30's would want to be part of this team as they try and rebuild.

It would probably be good for Jay Cutler to get a fresh start on a new team. Good for him and also good for the Bears.

100% agree. He could at least possibly make it to a boarderline team along the lines of Miami or Washington. What is the reason to keep a 35 year old average at best QB on a rebuilding team?
Fix the OL(which really isn't as bad as many think it is. Another offseason and I think you are a RT away from having the makings of a pretty special OL. Add more def pieces(db and de/olb help) and then go bpa w/a qb in the first 2 rounds; preferably the 1st if it's a top 5 pick.

If we're going QB in the first we need Fox gone. I don't like his input on who is QBs are. I'm not against a QB in the first but in my personal opinion I believe we don't have the coaches to make our QB great.
Seeing how poor our Pass Rushers have been its better to go with them first. Fix the problem of the defense and it will only benefit the offense. Its much easier to find a great OLB than a great QB in the first.

+1 On a side note, I am pleasantly surprised with the OL right now. Massie needs to be upgraded but the rest of the line is encouraging.
