John Fox says critics are too busy eating hot dogs to know what the real story is.
“It could have been an option [going to Jeffery],” Fox said. “I don’t know that you can be super-critical. When you’re out there playing quarterback it looks a little different than when you’re in the press box having hot dogs.”
Fox later added: “Had we had the coolness of the hotdog-laden press box, [the ball] might have gone there.”
oddly enough, good ol' John knows a thing or 2 about hot dogs...
Uh oh , now he's done it . From now on the thin-skinned MEdia is gonna gang up on him and treat him like crap and talk smack about him every chance they get . Why ? Cuz he threw them some chin music , and there's NOTHING these thin-skinners hate more than being " dissed " . You watch , it'll begin w/o delay .
I'm sorry but **** John Fox. I wasn't eating hot dogs. I was watching on a 17" lap top 1000 miles away. I could see what everyone else did, and I'm criticizing it just like the media is and they should.
Now I'm even more convinced that Fox is using every trick he can to get out from under Cutler to deflect attention from himself and try to save his own skin. At least Trestman waited 'til November to try that trick.
This guy is making me sorry I ever supported his hire and I won't let up on him at all until he either proves he's still got the goods to coach or Pace and the McCaskey's send him packing.
Fox is turning into little more than a whining defensive prick again. I had to listen to that for two years out here and I'll be damned if I'll listen to it for two more years now that he's the Bears HC.
Glad you're finally realizing what I saw was going to happen from the day he was hired. Guy is highly over rated. I didn't like the hire then, I don't like it now; sadly the team has to stick w/it another year or 2 just for the stability of the team. Let him continue to build his def, but this year he now has no choice but to draft a QB b/c there isn't one on this team that is capable of starting next year.

Hey I ain't calling myself a John Fox 'fan' - far from it . Just like many 'greats' ( in many occupations ) , I've questioned whether or not he's one of these people who've been 'carried' by other people throughout his career . I ain't impressed yet - far from it - but I DO enjoy anybody who treats the MEdia with disdain . Easy to sit in ur pretty little office , and sit behind a computer and TYPE ... having never to be IN the foxhole where the real bullets are actually flying ( and then write smack like some hack from TMZ ) . Anybody think it's a good idea to hire Rosensleeze or Kaplan or Haugh or Bernhump as our next HC or GM ? Yeah - didn't think so .

And it may be a situation where John Fox and Vic Fangio get the team somewhat on its feet, and then we move on to another guy to take us the rest of the way. I feel like the team needs to complete the roster remake before any coach is going to have a playoff team here. The heavy injuries have compounded our roster problems at the moment too.
John Fox has coached for close to 40 years and taken two different teams to Super Bowls. We can argue he was "lucky" or whatever. But nobody can dispute the fact that he took two different teams to the Big Dance. So there must be some baseline of coaching talent there, otherwise he would not continue to be an NFL Head Coach after all of these years. There is some coaching talent there, just to have survived 40 years of coaching.
We can argue if he's good enough. That's a valid point. But we could have done worse than Fox here in Chicago. In fact, he may be good for a team that had to be rebuilt to such a large extent. The guy is mature, respected by players (everything you read is about how he is a highly respected head coach) and he is steady - unlike the meatball fans who wet themselves if there isn't instant gratification and winning.
I want to see the team steadily add to the talent and continue another year with John Fox... maybe 2 more years. Let's see where we are at, at that point. Maybe then it will be time to bring in a new coach to finish the job of winning a super bowl here in Chicago. We could do worse than Fox IMHO.
He's gotten 2 teams to the SB, but he's also lost both SB's. And the 2nd one he had a ginormous horseshoe up his ass when he got Manning in FA; what are the chances that the one piece he needs to complete that team was a HoF QB(which never opens up in FA) and he just happens to land him.
He's still a barely .500 HC and you seeing it now, no real improvement in players from 1 year to the next and just bad in game decisions.

Fox reacted to the reporter with a smart ass answer. I take that as he's frustrated with how the season is going. He cares. Actually, I laughed when I saw the full text of the encounter with the reporter. No, it wasn't "politically correct" and he shouldn't have popped off like that. But I do understand his frustration. As pissed as we are with the season, I think he is even more so than us.
