It says he hasn't signed his franchise tag tender either. Wonder what's going on there? Maybe the commute to the 49er practice field is too far for him?
Here's another article on Gould this morning. As much as I like Robbie Gould, I would be very disappointed if the Bears mortgaged the farm to bring him back here. I think there is zero chance of Pace doing it.
LINK Chicago Bears: 3 signs Robbie Gould could return home John Lynch and the San Francisco 49ers placed the franchise tag on Gould, ensuring he wouldn’t be going back to the Bears anytime soon.
But, Gould still has yet to sign the tag.
There is one small caveat that many forget exists with Gould, though, and that is he is still allowed to negotiate with other teams. If any other team decided to sign him, they would owe the 49ers a pair of first-round picks.
I know, that’s not going to happen. But, for those who did not know, now you do.
Although Gould has been tagged, many believe he still ends up back in Chicago before the season starts. One way or another, whether it be the 49ers rescinding the tag or working out a trade, the Bears could still land him.

I think that chance is about 1%. We need to find a young and cheap kicker and can't afford to waste $ on an expensive, aging (turns 38 this season) one. It great that Gould rejuvenated his career after leaving here but what's done is done.

Move on
I take a 38 year old Robbie Gould over the 27 year old Parkey we had last year...
If he's a top 5 kicker in the league then his age is meaningless...
If you want to win ALL OPTIONS should be consider.

ALL OPTIONS? okay lets trade Mack for Gould and the 9rs first round pick.
All options is a cool statement that is never actually used in business.

Maybe his age isn't a huge factor (in the short term) but his COST is. Gould isn't even a FA--would you pay him $5m AND give up a draft pick?
